Barrister House Catering

First I want to say is that when my husband and I were looking for a hall this one was the best price. They said 3000 for 190. They told us we were going to get the nice of the hall or even both rooms if they didn't fill that spot. Fast forward 3 weeks before we get married we were going to give them the final count and money. we were 40 people shy of 190. When we came in they said we owe 5,000 because the 3000 was to "help" us knock down the price. We were in shock! 3 weeks before we get married then to tell us this big news! We couldn't go anywhere seeing our wedding was 3 weeks away we even told them we have less guest they said once you tell them a number they cant go lower only higher....WE WERE SO UPSET! all they said was sorry you guys should have looked at you contract. We talk to 5 different people each one never knew what was going. At the wedding they promised us the top shelf for the bar and great amazing food! At the bar we had maybe 4 different drink that serve the food was so horriable even the bread was cold! At the head table they didn't serve us as we are the guest of honor. The table where the dishes were at fell on some of the guest and they didn't even seem to care. The wait staff was horffic they made my mom go hunt for stuff because" she didn't feel like being there and wanted to go home" one of the wait staff told my mom. Their was no one around to help or ask questions. Finally Louie the owner came in for a short time to help set back the plates but didn't once come and talk to us about the problems. Also before the wedding they messed up on my rehearsal day and time they said Thursday at 5 pm We came and they had NO POWER because they didn't pay their bill and there was a wedding setting up. The girl who was working for Louie didn't tell we are so sorry but blamed us for not calling that day even though we called on Monday of that week. So we couldn't do our rehearsal. I would NEVER recommend this place ever to any one!!!! I wish I could go back and find another venue more

First of all when it was time to take the money and organize things they informed us that we would be seated in one of 2 halls, when it was time to decorate (which we couldn't do until 4PM the same day) we were in the hall NEXT door to the building that no one knew existed!!!!!!!!! It was a fire hazard how they stuffed us all in that SMALL room with ONE STALL bathrooms. I would never recommend this place! more

I think this hall is nice and clean but somewhat plain but than you get what you pay for. Nice if you have the time to decorate it up for the occassion. I have been there in the past for a few baby shrowers and the food was good. Ample parking available. Book enough in advance to secure your date. more

Barrister House is a nice banquet hall located on Harper. Their hall is very clean and well- maintained and the service we received at the reception we attended was very good. We also attended a shower here and found it to be managed well and overall a pleasurable experience. Parking behind the building is in need of repairs and sometimes the doors are not clearly marked as to which one to use for the event you are attending. more

The hall is located on the corner of Harper Avenue and Sunnyside Street. There is limited parking behind the hall, as well as to the side of it, but many use the side street to park, as well as another business's lot, since it is closed most of the time the hall is in use. Prices are average when compared to other banquet halls in the area. Food is great. Owner is very pleasant and helpful. You can host showers, weddings or reunions, anything you want! more
