Barn-Bed & Breakfast Inn

The Barn is not what most people would expect for a so called Bed and Breakfast. The facility is in desparate need of updating. It does not look like it has received fresh decoration since the place opened 30 years ago. No extra blankets in the rooms, you get sheets on the bed and a conforter. And they are not super soft sheets to pamper you. They are the type of bed sheets you would find at an estate sale from someone who died and had not bought new sheets in the past 30 years. The bed was not comfortable. I have stayed in cheap motels with more comfortable beds. In my mind, a "bed and breakfast" should be trying to pamper you, which was why I thought it would be a good option for a valentine's day get away with my wife. The bed felt like cardboard. If they had removed the mattress and placed two box springs on the bed it would not have felt any different. If the floor had appeared cleaner or if they had provided blankets I might have elected to sleep on the floor instead of a bed that was so uncomfortable we did not get a good night's rest and I woke up with a stiff back. They appear to have a patchwork of HVAC system. In the middle of the night our room turned into a sauna. There is no thermostat in the room. Fortunately temperatures were below freezing outside so the room cooled off when I opened the window. We got the impression that the owner and staff kind of put a half hearted effort into running the place. I would avoid this place. more

Good: Really not very much. Not at all what we were anticipating.. Bad: No locks on doors. No soap, shampoo, no complimentary snacks or drinks. Paper thin walls. Linoleum floor in bathroom. Cafeteria grade food. 70's decor.. Improvements: Update decor. Cook real meals, not mass-produced cafeteria food. Midnight snacks and beverages are complimentary at most B&Bs we've stayed at. At the Barn they charge $1.00 for fountain drinks, bottled water and popcorn! Unacceptable.. Other: Very disappointed and will not be back. Expected a quaint country bed and breakfast similar to Circle S (which is outstanding!) and instead found a 70's era motel/conference center. For $150 we expected a LOT more than we got.. more

The barn is a cute little bed and breakfast located about half mile from the highway so its nice and quite. They have a great staff. I’ve only stayed here one and enjoyed my stay. Everything’s nicely decorated and clean, very cozy. They have a nice heated indoor pool and sauna. Highly recommended if your ever in the area. more
