I aked people on the street how to find the place. The people outside sent me all over a 4-5 block radius, walking back and forth. It was getting to be a hassle, and I really hadn't planned on being there long anyway. I was supposed to meet someone there which is why I even bothered to continue looking for it. I had read a review that said you don't know it is there until you hear the bass playing as you pass it. So that's how I found it. I walked slowly up the street until I heard some music coming from somewhere, and there it was... hidden in plain sight. By the time I got there, I was livid. I didn't want to stay. As soon as I went inside, it felt like time stopped. The place was tiny, but had enough people to where I didn't feel like I was in the hotel bar in the Shining.
The first person you see is the bouncer ... whom I wanted to bounce back to my place as a souveneir... he was hot... and very nice. He kept the rif-raff out and to my delight, let me in. I squealed, but he didn't hear me over the music. The music was setting a very comfortable atmosphere, inviting me in. I couldn't put my finger on any particular name to describe the type of music other than it was somehow aligning itself with my aura, and melting the stress. Suddenly it was okay to be there.. I guess I would stay for a little while. I ordered my favorite drink, which is a surprise every time I order it. It seems like so many bartenders just can't blend it to taste good. It was one of the tastiest I've had in a long time. Conversation revealed the bartender was very knowledgeable. I was hooked. I got comfortable. The crowd inside was very friendly, and even entertaining to watch. Everyone was in their own world, but not excluding me. There was no cattiness or attitude ANYWHERE.
Saw my friend briefly... When I realized I had to go, I was truly sad. Eventually I left, but the place stayed on my mind for days afterward. I'm definitely going back.
Pros: Fantastic vibe.
Cons: Blink and you miss it.
