Banyan Garden is the best in the Bay, even when compared to popular Straits Cafe! The chicken rice is intense and addictive, even for those who have not tried Singaporean food. Malaysian dry curry is excellent with lamb or beef. Mee siam (fried vermicelli noodles) are not spicy and not like the ones from Singapore, but still very good and one of my favorites. Belachan kang kong is a fibrous green Chinese veg stir fried with a special shrimp sauce and is yummy, though possibly an acquired taste. For a great authentic dessert, try the bobo chacha either hot or cold.
Pros: Delicious food, Friendly owner
Cons: Bad kitchen vent
