great authentic thai 2/5/2008

As a huge Thai food lover Ive been to quite a few and this is by far the best one ive tried in new orleans...especially for its price. The food was amazing...the ginger chicken is the most authentic and best ive ever had...the pad thai was very good too...not the most amazing ever but still very good. Service was nice too...the decor wasnt anything to go crazy over but doesnt need to be when the food stands for itself unlike many thai places in uptown who have to try to be chic or trendy to make up for bad food and spiked prices. I would def ignore that review saying it was bad...they must have been at a different place! Pros: Great thai at a great price more

Great place for REAL thai food 5/21/2007

I've been in New Orleans for years for my tenure at Tulane. Born and raised a Vietnamese Cali boy I've been entitled to some great food esp Thai. During my stay here, I have fallen in love with Bangkok Thai. The food has always been fabulous and service excellent. The decor wasn't outstanding but everything else made up for it including the prices compared to the rest of NO. I recommend trying it out and seeing for yourself. Make it spicy or make it sweet. It's going to be good. My tenure is at Tulane is done. This graduate is going home. No more late nite curries or satays. No more Cooter Browns after my meals. Thank you Bangkok Thai. Pros: Authentic. Tasteful. Inexpensive compared to the rest of NO. Cons: environment could be better more

Awful AND a rip off? Yep. 5/18/2007

This place is ridiculously expensive compared to most Thai restaurants. The pad thai is a fishy abomination. On top of everything the waitress/owner tried to rip me off by padding the price of several items on our check. Pros: close to better restaurants Cons: overcharged, dirty, inauthentic more

If you can stand the funky smell... 1/27/2006

Right when we walked in, we noticed the place had a weird smell to it not relating to food, maybe some kind of plant? Nevertheless, the food was decent, but the portion size was smaller than we've found elsewhere in the country, and more expensive? We've eaten better Thai elsewhere, unfortunately. Pros: Not crowded Cons: Funky smell, Expensive, Small portions more

an authentic gem 8/23/2005

I enjoy going back for their consistently authentic Thai dishes. They achieve the balance in that perfect 'thai spicy-hot', yet light. I bring good friends (locals and visitors) to this little gem & they too find Bangkok Thai lingering in their minds, days later. Pros: AUTHENTIC, Inexpensive, Good Service Cons: crowded parking more

Thai people eat here 8/11/2005

I'm Thai and have been disappointed by several thai restuarants in the city until I tried Bangkok Thai. It's a mom an' pops shop with fair prices, friendly service, and great Thai food. Pros: Inexpensive, Friendly Service, Down Home Atmosphere more

Authentic Taste of Thai 6/16/2005

I had a great experience at Bangkok Thai. The food was authentic (and I'm very picky about how asian restaurants ""americanize"" their cuisine), the waitstaff was friendly, and the price was right. I would definitely dine there again. Pros: Authentic cuisine, Friendly service more

You can do better 5/25/2005

I've dined at this restaurant more than a few times; however, after my most recent trip I have taken a personal vow not to go back. You see, a few months ago a friend of mine gave me a gift certificate to Bangkok Thai, so today I had lunch and behold--the owner would not accept my gift certificate because of a recent change in ownership. It still had the same name, nearly the same menu, and even the exact same posters of Thailand. I ended up using my credit card after I let the owner know she had just lost two regular customers. Pros: Near universities, Near Cooter Brown's Cons: Inflexible management, Mediocre food, Uninspiring setting more

Best Thai Food In New Orleans 11/30/2002

The most authentic Thai food I tasted in New Orleans! Family-owned, and very friendly atmosphere. The Pad Thai is a must. Not expensive and the food is mouth watering. more
