the most amazing thai food 10/17/2011

I lived in thailand years ago and still love the amazing food. Although there maybe many Thai restaurnts in the area this one beats them all. I now live almost 2 hours away and still every year come here to have our family reunions. The owners are like family, they are very friendly, speak very good english (and Thai for all those who want to practice their skills ) I just love this place the food is very authentic and made Thai style (unless you ask for not so spicy) I have tried other thai restruants in this area and others and nothing compares! Go enjoy.... more

Actually, I have had REAL Thai food before - at Bangkok Kitc 11/28/2009

I first had Thai food in the kitchen of my boss, his wife is Thai-born, and raised. The food was great there and the same for this small restaurant. They make and serve many of the ""expected"" dishes, and make a few in a ""home-style cooking"" not haute cuisine. If you are a ""foodie"" and want the exotic stuff, you might not like this place. If you have friends or family that are of Thai ancestry and enjoy home-cooking. You will like this place. The kitchen staff is small and have been there a long time, they tend to cook to suit their regular customers. Many of whom HAVE spent some time in Thailand. I have gone to other Thai restaurants, here in Maryland and in many other cities. This place compares favorably to the best. There have been a couple other Thai-style places that did not last very long. There must be a good reason for why this place is still around. Good food, and yes, they will ""tone it down"" or serve it Thai style (very spicy) if you wish. Pros: Eat-in, the food is well seasoned and very good Cons: The locale might be a turn-off to some more

Worst Thai Experience 8/17/2009

As you can tell by my user name, I love Thai! I really love Thai!! Ordered my favorite Thai dish Spicy Thai Basil while visiting the area on a business trip hoping for the best after reading other reviews. The dish lacked favor which is the essence of Thai cuisine. Their version of the dish is done with ground chicken for me this is not a good texture mix with rice. There needs to be balance. \r \r The spring rolls on the other hand were excellent, so glad I decided to order them because after a few bites of the Spicy Thai Basil I was ready to toss the dish in the trash. Again I was visiting the area & used a delivery service to order from this restaurant. The deliver was prompt & worth the delivery charge plus tip, however the main course was lacking in overall presentation, taste, flavor, spice & everything else that made me fall in love with Thai food originally! \r \r I am not sure if the other reviewers have had the pleasure of having authentic Thai food, but this is not it! Save your money and dine somewhere else. \r \r Luckily on the same trip I came across a great Thai gem (Little Spice, Inc) a short distance from my hotel, wish I had found it originally and skipped this place! \r Pros: Springs Rolls Cons: Everything Else more

Bangkok is good Thai 3/13/2008

ive never had Thai before actually. But I live across the street on post at Fort Meade and drive past it every day and when i finally decided to stop buy and pick up something i was amazed at how good it was. Please try the drunken noodle with thai tea. MMMM!! Its located beside a tattoo parlor(which didnt bother me i have a number of tats lol) but if it scares you DONT WORRY. I went up to it at night and i was fine. So you will be too. Please go and dine in. My husband and I are going there next month for our anniversary!!! Pros: the people inside are very friendly and helpful Cons: parking is VERY bad especially on a weekday around 5PM more

Just like Thailand 9/27/2007

I never had the buffet but I've enjoyed several dishes at Bangkok Kitchen. Recently I tried the som tam. It wasn't like the stuff I'd had in Thailand and I told them so. Turns out I was used to the northeastern (Isaan) style while they were serving me Bangkok style. (Duh! It's Bangkok Kitchen!) Next time, I ordered som tam made to order northeastern style and it was perfect -- just like I remember except it wasn't hot enough to hurt. Next time I'll ask for more peppers.\r \r Thai restaurants everywhere I've been in the states tone down the heat for Americans because so many of us can't stand the peppers. If you want it authentically hot, you've got to make them believe you can take it. You'd better be sure you can though. I've seen bravado turn to tears. Authentically hot, when I ate the stuff in Thailand, made my face flush, my nose run, my eyes tear, my tongue fat, my lips swell, my saliva thick and my ears throb. I think I was temporarily blind, too. I got used to it though. It's wonderful.\r \r more

Avoid the lunch buffet 2/6/2007

I recently visited the Bangkok Kitchen for lunch with a good friend who gave it rave reviews. We had the lunch buffet which is offered duing the week for $8.95. Upon entering we were greeted by several Thai employees who were very nice and eager to seat us.\r \r The inside is small with an average decor. The buffet consisted of several Thai dishes including Kapow Chicken which was somewhat flavorable and very mild. They did have several spices and sauces on an adjoining table that you could add to crank up the heat. The spring rolls were pretty tasty but the rice noodles were kind of bland.\r \r If you see something that you like on the buffet and don't know what it is make sure you ask because nothing is labeled. I've been to several Thai restaruants in Philadelphia and New York before and the food at the Bangkok Kitchen was definitely sub-par.\r \r The service was good though and I was greeted with a smile everytime. I can say that I've never eaten here for dinner, but If you don't mind piling a ton of food on your plate that is bland and somewhat tasteless - then the lunch buffet at the Bangkok Kitchen is definitely for you.\r \r Happy Eating!!!\r Pros: Good Service Cons: Poor Food Quality more

Incredible Thai food! Very Authentic! 2/6/2007

Very Good food at a good value. Lunch buffet is ok, but doesn't compare to the dinners. The dinners are EXCELLENT. Make sure you get the sticky rice & mango for desert.\r \r The place is a little dive, and could scare you off since it is next to a Tattoo parlor. Don't let that bother you, the food is worth it!\r \r PS - Don't listen to Chef Boy RJB. He has no taste. more
