I have used the Banfield in Laurel since I moved here last year and have really tried to like them, but have been consistently disappointed in thier lack of knowledge and the charging of unneccesary fees. They will try to add everything thing possible can to your bill even when the medications they are prescribing are not neccesary. I have called my prior vet several times to ask if medicatons they are prescribing are necessary and was told they were not necessary.The last time I went to them they tried to charge me almost $200.00 for booster vaccinations that they said my pets missed. They claimed I missed my regular check up and now my pets would have to start all over again with booster shots. I was only 3 months past my regular check up! Also they never send reminders cards. Probably so they can claim you missed your appontment and charge for more shots. I researched it I found out they were wrong and that my pets did not need the extra booster shots.They also told me they my two cats and my dog had a ear infection which I was very surprised because they did not have any symptoms. They wanted to prescribe almost $300.00 in medications and ear washes. I told them I would come back later and get the meds and took them to my old vet without telling him the prior diagnosis and he checked all of my pets and said they were all in good shape. He did say I needed to clean my dogs ears which he did for free for me. They were going to charge me $25.00 for this service. I only go to them because they are the only Banfield close to my house and I only use them for basic services. If I have a serious medical problem with my pets I will take them elsewhere.The people at the front desk are very nice! more

If I could give them 1/4 of a star I would, and that would be only for the front desk service I received. Dr. Tara Flynn is an idiot and I would not recommend allowing her to treat your pet. I had to go there abruptly (as it is not my normal hospital) and ""Dr. Flynn"" (I say that loosely) prescribed medicines that are not associated with my pets problem and one which apparently has side effects which are potentially fatal or damaging. When confronted she even lied about the visit and what I agreed to. They also offered me unnecessary products which they refused to take back. It's a joke of a hospital. If you care about your pet, try Fair Lakes or Arundel Mills, they're professional and really want to help your pet. Lynda Brown, the ""manager"" is unskilled and unfamiliar with policy but is a good data entry clerk. more

Good Experience 5/19/2010

I have been going to Banfield for a little over a year now. I have not had any issues as some people have had. Both of my dogs are on the Wellness Plan. A few times my visit has been completely free. The vets are willing to answer any of the questions I have. My only complaint would be the wait time. Sometimes I've waited in the exam room 30 minutes before a nurse came in to begin the exam. more

Money hungry practice 2/19/2010

I've taken my dog here for years and each time I go back I wonder why I still have the Banfield Wellness plan. Where should I begin....\r One time my dog couldn't walk on his hind paw. He had something stuck in it and it was so painful for him he actually tried to bite me when I tried to pull it out. So I took him here as an emergency, when there, I waited for FOUR HOURS as scheduled visits were put into the patient rooms while my dog barked repeatedly in front of the main desk. The receptionist was uncaring, and even though there is a sign that says "hurt animals will be seen first" she didn't care. I had to SCHEDULE a time to bring him back THE NEXT DAY!!!\r \r Two days after another visit, my dog went blind in one eye. I took him back in and the vet told me it was a degenerative thing that all dogs get. She even pointed out that the other eye was getting bad too...hmmm, so I guess the comprehensive drop off visit I did two days ago no one checked his eye site because this is the firs more

Uncaring vets 9/24/2008

I took my cat there because she got out of the house and got into a fight. She was ill for about 2 days before I took her to Banfield. The vet was very rough with her. She needed minor surgery and stitches. I took her back a week later to get her darinage tubes removed, I waited in the waiting area while the vet took her back to his office (I assume). When the vet brought her out to me, she was in her carrying case. I did not get to, nor did I think to, see what the vet had done until I got home. The vet took the stitches out a week early. She has huge gaping wounds on her back. I will never take my pets there again. more

Cleanest, most professional,caring staff in Laurel!! 7/25/2008

This vet hospital is refreshing change from the other vets around town! The hospital is the cleanest I've ever seen and the hospital staff and doctors are really knowledgable and caring! They always remember me and my sweet baby, Coco! Even if I just call in to ask a question,they take the time to explain things and the vet always calls me back the same day! I live in nearby Greenbelt, but prefer the vet in Laurel by far!! more

Best veterinary practice in Laurel!!! 2/5/2008

I wanted to find a caring professionel vet in the area who showed a true love and devotion to caring for pets just like they would any member of my family or their own. I had visited several vets in the area, but was always left not quite satisfied until I visited Banfield pet hospital in Laurel! Here they have an experienced, friendly and professionel vet and staff who always goes the extra mile in caring for my two dogs, Chase and Beau. The hospital is super clean and organized, just like my own doctor's office and the staff is a lot more friendly, they take time to explain my pets needed medications or special care instructions before discharging my pets and I can always get an appt or even walk in!! more
