After saying goodbye to the glory days of the Luau, it was hard to get excited about anything inhabiting the old space in Tangletown. Especially when Bandolero's predecessor "The Pourhouse" was charging obscene amounts for dinner. But, Bandolero is the neighbor you want to get to know better. Nicely decorated without being pretentious. Interesting menu without going over the top. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE their Mole sauce on the chicken enchiladas.
The margaritas are a mini-vacation to Mexico in a glass. Don't stop there - there are plenty of interesting cocktails to try. If you are hard-core, you MUST join the tequila club and work up to getting your name on the wall.
And perhaps the best part for those of us families in the 'hood is the "Family Dining" section complete with high chairs, booths for climbing toddlers and really friendly waitresses. Get the bean & cheese quesadilla off the kid's menu - yum!
