Balboa Park is its own destination. You don't even have to visit the museums to have fun! There are lots of gardens and green areas where you can enjoy a picnic or just spend some quiet time reading. They have a Japanese Tea Garden, which has a cafe. There is also a lovely Botanical Building that has over 2,000 different tropical plants! Balboa Park has one restaraunt, The Prado, and has a park gift shop as well as many, many museum gift shops. Balboa Park has a pass that for only $35, you can visit 13 museums. It's a great deal!
