I would give them 10 stars but the max here is 5. 8/9/2011

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Waxhaw Animal Hospital and Dr. Bailey in particular, though all the vets and tech's were wonderful to me and my dog. I got a call back immediately every time I called, and I called a lot. The prices were better than anywhere else in the area. They are incredibly compassionate and caring and just wonderful. My dog needed a surgery that required a specialist that was really expensive and Dr. Bailey took the time to call around to find a place that would do it for a reasonable price. more

Dr. has a heart for animals! 7/27/2011

Our family including Gee Bee, Love Dr. Hessey. Its nice to have a vet that my dog adores, gets in the floor with him, and doesn't mind the slobbering. It's obvious she has heart for animals. Thanks Dr. Hessey. more

A great time at the vet! 6/3/2011

I have been bringing my dogs and cats in for many years to Waxhaw Animal Hospital to see Dr. Burtis and everyone there for their annual check-ups, regular boarding, and other needs when they are sick. I am always very happy with how much I learn about them and what great attention and care they give to my ""kids."" My two dogs have even behaved much better for me since the kennel staff has spent extra time over the years training them to walk better on the leash for me. I always do what Dr. Burtis says I should for them, and they have lived long and happy lives, and I expect many more to come! The last visit was just as great, and everyone greets me very warmly when I come in, so I would definitely recommend that anyone go as well, for they are great people! more

No compassion at this animal hospital!!! 1/15/2011

This place is unbelievable, I called at 5:50 pm with a dying cat, and asked if I could bring her in, the receptionist said we can see her in the morning we close at 6:00. I said you can't wait I live 5 minutes from the office, no she said we close at 6. Real compassionate huh.....I work with people in healthcare and would stay to help another human being if it meant staying an extra 10 minutes, don't trust your animals to this place!!! I would like to give it no stars but it won't let me lucky for them. more

caring personnel 9/29/2010

The staff at Waxhaw Animal Hospital are very caring, efficient and knowledgeable. They have taken care of my pets for routine care and also emergencies. I have been very happy with the care they received. I have also used the boarding facility. Tho small and not fancy like some my pets received excellent care. When I picked them up the staff informed me of how the stay had gone and also informed me of some behaviors that I was not aware of. They were clean and were happy . I thank them for taking such good care of my girls while I was away. more

Pricey 4/26/2010

I brought my Lab here to have a tumor removed (NOT biopsied) from his leg and after two visits, one for the checking him out and starting him on antibiotics and the next visit for the removal it ended up costing us $800. I just brought my other dog (5 yr old mix) in to get her shots up to date (she was not much over a year out of date) and it cost me $200. This place is very nice and they take good care of the animals, I should have shopped around for see if this is a fair price. Pros: They take good care of the animals Cons: Costly more

Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful 3/2/2010

When I took my cat there after it had been hit by a car, the staff was eager to assist me and evaluate my cat. They helped me coup with the panic and fear that he might not make it. After a thorough examination from the doctors, and treatment for shock, they had found the only injury to be a broken leg. After overnight care, my cat stabalized and the surgery to repair the leg was successful. My cat thrived again after that. They stayed the first night past closing time and to take care of us. Hooray!!!! Pros: Well educated and kind staff more

STAY AWAY PLEASE! 4/9/2009

All they want is money! They do not care about your pets unless you have money. They also makes excuses your pets is tense to avoid a full examination. I gave them a second chance by going back to them after a three years absent because I sensed they mistreated my pet from their boarding facility. Now I've pulled both of my pets out after realizing what they tried to pulled on a heartworm prescription. They are thieves, and I believe they do not know what they are doing really. Except they want money money money! Pros: None at all! Cons: Money money money more

Worst Animal Hospital and Care 6/3/2008

Do not take your animal to Waxhaw Animal Hosp. My dog has been through various doctors there in the past 2 years. I have taken my dog there 3 times in the last 2 weeks with complaints of throwing up and bowel issues. 1st visit the vet claimed it was just diet, and to watch him. We took him back 2 more times and they did one x-ray which they claimed showed that nothing was wrong and that he did not need a barium series. Every time I called waxhaw animal Hosp. the vet never spoke with me only the vet tech would call. Within the 2 weeks I was taking him there he lost 10lbs. None of this phased them. I found a new vet, who within three hours, diagnosed him and he is now going for surgery today. When I went to Waxhaw to get his records & get loan out his x-ray the Vet was rude to me and would not loan out his x-ray. This has been going on for 2 wks and the VETS as waxhaw just did not care about my dogs health. My new vet said, after the surgery, that this was a very severe condition and my dog almost did not make it. Be wary of them, my dog suffered too long without being diagnosed. Pros: non Cons: My dog almost died in their care. more

STAY AWAY 2/9/2008

I have been going here for years. I have heard alot of bad things about Waxhaw Animal Hospital but never had any problems. They have always been good to my cat. Had my cat in for shots she is 3 yrs old and no problems, 4 hrs after the shots she was walking funny. I call the vet and they said if she was not better in the morning to bring her back in. She did not make it through the night. She was fine before the shots. Please do not use this place. I heard bad things, now I am one of those people. Pros: Close to home. Cons: I HAVE A DEAD CAT NOW more

dying cat 9/18/2007

My husband took a stray cat that we have been feeding to this vet yesterday to see if it could be helped. They wanted $250 - $300 to do all sorts of test and x-rays. The cat looked like it was on its last leg and he asked if they could just look at him without all that cost. They said that they'd do a couple of test and let him know. He called me while he was waiting and I called another vet and they said it'd be $35 for an exam, but , unfortunately, they were closing in 20 minutes and he was still at the other place. They came back and said it wasn't either of those things and what did he want to do. Again with the $250 - $300. He asked about a price break considering it was a stray, did they not help animals like that? He was told that when an animal was left on the step, they would help it, but wouldn't budge on the price. My husband was very upset and left with the cat. It died not 100 yards from their parking lot. I got a call this morning saying we owed $38 for the test they did. They never offered to put the poor animal out of its misery, they just wanted to do a bunch of test and collect their fee. We've been clients for a few years, but no more. We give to pet charities and felt bad for the abandoned cat, but who wants to pay that kind of money for an animal that looks to be dying. My husband now regrets trying to help. The last few hours of that poor animals life were spent being tramatized at a vets office that didn't care. Cons: no compassion for stray more
