Indian food that will make you smile 8/12/2008

From connoisseurs of the Indian menu, please take it from us that that Bagicha is an answered prayer if what you're seeking is fabulous, traditional food fron the Subcontinent. We are so addicted that we are taking 10 people to dinner there this week. Everything is the best version of anything you have ever tasted in the Indian repertoire. That goes for breads, samosas, curries,rice and even the smart dipping sauces no one does better than the chef here. It is not fusion but really delicious, carefully wrought cuisine. Best at this time on the UWS. Pros: Great food, attentive intelligent service Cons: None yet more

Amazing 7/5/2008

The service was excellent, the staff was kind, and the food was tremendous and the decor of the restaurant was mind blowing. May i suggest the lamb chops and the chicken makhani . I also enjoyed the mango lassi that reminded of home in india. Finally the desert was out of this world. I enjoyed the coconut sorbet Pros: Everything Cons: none more

Best Indian on the UWS 6/14/2008

My husband and I dined at Bagicha on a Saturday evening. It is a LOVELY restaurant. It is small--perhaps only 8 tables (+ a lounge/bar area)--but the atmosphere is unique, as the restaurant is in a greenhouse-type structure which you'd never know existed from the street view. The service was excellent--kind, friendly, attentive, and helpful. I've found other Indian restaurants' service a bit surly in this neighborhood so this was a refreshing change. The food was fantastic--the naan was delicious (we tried 3 kinds) as were the apptizers (samosas) and entrees (a chickpea dish and chicken korma). Our bill came to $53 for 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and naan. I highly recommend it! more
