Backyard Restaurant

Went to rest for first time recently Hostess/manager? I will call her blondie was the most condecending rest person I have ever encountered service decent food poor at best it was labor day weekend if you have none of the specials that you just told us about two seconds ago dont tell us about them never mind at least three or four other regular entrees not available if you are closing for seasons or labor day is a problem for them at least tell us when we call judging by quality of food there was available it probably would not have made a difference I read a review from the fellow who talk about owner /hostess chasing them out of the rest. and throwing money at them being a total jerk you would figure this would not be possible but eating at the rest. and dealing with already mentioned jerk I can totally believe this crazy story PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do yourself a favor and do not even slow down in front of this dump. more

The food is always great...Staff is very friendly... Comfortable settings, atmosphere is just relaxing..My favorite place to eat when we are down the shore...my only complaint, if any, I wish they had a breakfast/brunch Pros: best chef around Cons: doesn't open early enough more

we go every year at least once - we invite family and friends when they visit us in town. it is nice to be able to bring your own bottle (we enjoy wine) and enjoy a great meal while just chilling out. the food is great and the service has not been a problem for us in all the years we have eaten at the Back Yard. we recommend trying it - and believe if you are looking for a change of pace; this is it!!! Pros: perfect setting for a different down-the-shore experience more

Part of the restaurant is going for the ?backyard? eclectic vibe ? which is done by the use of white plastic lawn chairs, campy table cloths, outdoor seating ? which is fine, but then go all the way with relatively cheap, down-home eclectic food. Part of the restaurant wants to be upscale and charge on average of $30+ per entree. For that amount I expect a certain level of quality and professionalism. Sadly, for my $30+ dish, I received standard fare food, with bland and uninspired sides of steamed veggies and mashed potatoes. Likewise, the waitress was unprepared and couldn?t tell me how my fish dish was served. Save your money and go elsewhere. more
