Backstage is one of the best establishments in Los Angeles. I have been going to Backstage off and on for nearly five years and the place always seems to get better each year. It has a little bit of everything for everyone, including karaoke, trivia, happy hour, sporting events, and live music.
Backstage has excellent food and drinks at very good prices. During happy hour, the prices on food and drinks are really amazing and not many places in town can even compete. They are accurate when they say ?best bar food in town.? I personally think the hamburgers, garlic fries, and mac & cheese are delicious.
The staff is very friendly and makes you feel welcomed at Backstage. The service is great, even when the place gets crowded. The bartenders make strong drinks. The atmosphere might be questionable to some people. It does have a dive bar ambiance, which is dark inside, with plain d?cor and can get hot when the bar fills up.
Karaoke nights, the bar?s biggest draw Thursday through Friday, tend to get very crowded. The singing can be very loud and terrible, which is to be expected, but can also be a lot of fun. Occasionally, dancing commences on the bar?s diminutive dance floor.
The clientele consists of a decent mix of people of various ages, culture, and attractiveness. Backstage has been named one of the best singles bars in Los Angeles which I find to be true. It is hit-or-miss; some weekends the singles scene is great and other weekends it?s off.
Backstage is a one of a kind bar experience in LA. If you visit with the intentions of having a good time, I believe that you will be pleasantly satisfied with your experience.
Pros: Drinks, food, affordability, entertainment, good mix of people
Cons: Tends to get crowded, small, not much lighting, loud on karaoke nights
