Backroad Pizza serves up the best damn pie in SF. The have a few specialty pizzas, but, for my money, fancy toppings don't count without a good foundation. Backroad's foundation is the best around. Thin, crisp cornmeal-dusted crust, great sauce. In this, it reminds me a bit of the Two Boots restaurants in New York City.
Service leaves something to be desired- don't go if you expect to be fawned over. This aspect of the place never bothers me, because the food is so good. No air conditioning, so I usually get it to go.
