Back Porch

This is by far one of my favorite spots in Destin. My family has been vacationing in Destin now for over 10 years and we always make at least 1 trip to the Back Porch. You can't beat the tuna dip, it is delicious, and the blackened amberjack sandwhich is the best!!!! I have never had a bad experience here. We always stop on our way back home and get some tuna dip for the road trip home. A definite must for your stay in Destin! Pros: Great view, wonderful atmosphere, AWESOME FOOD! more

best seafood Ive had. have tried Pomano Joes and Captain Daves to touristy food was just ok. Back porch has great views and all the staff were sweet as they could be!!! The only drawback is peple can dress as they want so you might have to look at some old mans fat hairy belly while you eat Pros: great food and staff Cons: very crowded and old men woth no shirts more

This was by far the worst dining experience I have ever had in Florida, and quite possibly one of the worst anywhere. This place came well-recommended for the food and view, but everyone in my party agreed it was horrible. The wait was ridiculous, the directions given by the staff to the restaurant were poor (and the hostess staff unhelpful when I called to get new directions). The view was fantastic, but it did little to make up for the poor quality of the food, drinks, and service. The mixed drinks were weak, watered down, and overpriced (as was everything else on the menu). We had a party of 8, each of us got something different as well as a couple of appetizers and a bowl of soup for the table and everyone was disappointed. Half of the orders came out wrong, and by the time they got the correct orders back out, the rest of the table was done eating. Should it really take 25 minutes to do a recook on a po-boy? The fish was either undercooked or overcooked, the fried shrimp tasted previously frozen and bland, and the soup tasted extremely fishy. Even the french fries were bad. Worst of all, the server and manager were both completely apathetic to my complaints regarding the poor quality. You got the impression that since they thrive on tourist business, they really don't care one way or the other about your dining experience. I would never eat here again and I would not recommend this to anyone. What a waste of time and money, and what a waste of such a great location. We went here after several friends recommended the place and I'm so glad we did. We were a little disappointed to here the wait was 45 minutes but when we saw we could order a drink from the bar and sit down by the beach while we waited we were thrilled. What a great time we had waiting for our table, sipping our drinks and looking out on the ocean with the nice breeze. The hostesses weren't too friendly but our server, Kali was great. My oysters on the 1/2 shell were delicious, as well as my scallops. At first I was taken back by how small they were but the taste and quantity of them made up for that. The portion was HUGE, I could not finish even though I tried really hard. My fiance wasn't crazy about his crab cakes but had a great time anyways. more

This place has it all. Great view, gulf breezes, good food, great service. The atmosphere is laid back perfection. If you're in a hurry, no problem. If you're not in a hurry, no problem. I liked being able to walk in off the beach. We went three times the week we were in Destin. I'm going back for the Grouper Florentine and the crab and spinach dip. Don't change a thing.
