Went to Ban Le based on the listing in Best of Westword. The sandwiches here are awesome. The french bread is done correctly (no honeycombed bottom, indicating it was cooked too quickly at a high temp) and the meat/veg flavor combinations are classic vietnamese. Very tasty vegs (pickled carrots, cilantro, others I can't remember) and fresh (hot) jalepenos. What a great deal at $2.50 a piece!! We have tried almost all of the vietnamese meat versions, but none of the chinese meat versions. Can't go wrong with any of them, but my faves are the pate and the meatball. Chicken is good too, but the grilled pork has more flavor. The only thing is that there's nowhere to sit down, not even a few rickety tables. It's strictly a take-out place. Eating in the car isn't so great, but the sandwiches are so good that we forget about the discomfort!
Pros: Price, authenticity
Cons: Nowhere to Sit down
