It is getting hard to find an actual butcher these days. This is a classic butcher shop. They just moved to a big new store just next door to the original one. A great selection of meat. Very delicious turkey jerky too! I've purchased their big freezer packs, which is a pretty economical way to buy good quality meat. They are great at answering questions and helping with selections. The steaks are always tender. I haven't tried their smoked salmon, but it looks yummy. They have another store down in Des Moines too. more

Go into either one of the B&E Meat Stores and you'll notice right away that the friendly service and helpful attitudes let you know you are in good hands. The product knowledge is fantastic and if you're looking for quality in meat and seafood you'd be hard pressed to find any better. From their award winning beef jerky, buffalo jerky or turkey jerky to the melt in your mouth tri-tip...there are few businesses that can boast a better selection or a more unique preparation suggestion. They pick and shell crab and vacuum pack it for you, so you can take it home, open the package and prepare a fabulous crab cocktail, or salad with no mess. Grilling instructions are always right on...and the selection of meat, chicken, and seafood is the best. If you are looking for a great gift idea...pick up a gift certificate and let your recipient pick out their own delectable dinner entrée. It's the best and I've been to lots of butcher shops and seafood counters....but not any more...I've found perfection ...It's called B&E. more

This is a great butcher! Their meat is top of the line, the best quality in town. The butchers behind the counter are friendly and helpful. Their steaks are out of this world, choice cut. Every time we have special company, we pick up a couple sirloins or a brisket. They also offer family packs for your freezer, with a variety of different items. They sell beef, seafood, poultry, etc. They also have some specialty items, such as marinated meats, etc. Don't leave without trying the Salmon Candy (trust me!). Prices? Spendy, but WELL worth every penny! more

B & E Meat & Seafood is like an old-fashioned butcher shop. They usually have a great assortment of fresh and frozen meat, including wild game and other more "exotic" types of things (rattlesnake?). They also sell sauces and other spices that are useful for grilling, and sell small and inexpensive bags of apple wood chips for smoking or grilling. Make sure to go more than 30 minutes before closing time, though, as they tend to put away everything in the rush to close. more
