Awesome! 4/25/2008

The nutty chicken and the cranberry cream cheese puffs are to die for! The steak is also wonderful! I've been here several times and the service has always been very attentive and they always know so much about the menu. more

Excellent all around 4/9/2008

There are no bad things to be said about Azia. Food, service and atmosphere were all top-notch. This is a place I will return to with out-of-town guests and local friends alike. more

Fantastic Experience! 4/7/2008

I went to Azia for the first time last week with 3 girlfriends and absolutely loved it! The service was prompt and friendly. The atmosphere was warm and elegant, but it did get a bit noisy when the tables filled up. I was impressed by the mojitos, and was floored by the fantastic food. I had the Salmon and it was cooked perfectly. We shared a plate of the calamari which was the best I've ever had. Each person in my group was thrilled with what they ordered and we all agreed that we would come back again. Pros: Food, atmosphere, service Cons: Noisy because it was so busy more

I miss the old Azia 4/5/2008

I've never written a review before, but after going to azia for years i felt i needed to say something. Azia Used to be an beautiful cool restaurant. The decor was great, food was good, and everyone knew what they were doing, from the hostess at the door, the waiters, to the owner walking around, genuinely caring that people were having a good time. Now its just kinda trashy. I keep on going back in the hopes it will go back to the way it was but it isn't. I've been crammed into that back room with too many people, I've waited for way to long for a table, I've sat at the sushi bar and saw how messy it is, and the guy manager was condescending when we said something. The foods and drinks are good so if you do go i'd suggest sitting at the bar. Pros: Location, happy hour. Cons: Long wait, management. more

Slightly Disappointed 3/16/2008

I have heard so many wonderful things about this place but when I finally made it over there my high expectations were let down. I went on a Sunday evening for dinner with a friend and dined in the main dining room. Service was less than fantastic--our server repeatedly said ""I'll be right back"" almost everytime she dropped by, even when it was obvious we just needed to order another drink. The mussels from their sushi bar were delicious but everything else was good, but slightly lackluster for the price. The pad thai was comparably to any mediocre thai restaurant in the city. The carpaccio was sliced about 1/4 in-1/2 in thick and so did not melt in your mouth as thinly sliced carpaccio does. The sea bass did not impress me. I'm still hoping to fall in love with this place, and as their menu is so large maybe we just ordered the wrong things. I would have loved some recommendations from the server if she would have stuck around long enough to help us navigate the menu. I hear the trick is to sit at the bar here and plan on going back soon to give Azia another try. Pros: Waterfall by the restrooms, Ambience Cons: Service was not helpful more

Best Service!!! 2/23/2008

I went to Azia on a Saturday night, the atmosphere was wonderful and intimate (great for a date). The food was absolutely delicious- there are more than enough options for even the pickiest eaters to find something that they will like (definitely would recommend the cranberry puffs!!). The best part of our experience was definitely the SERVICE- I would have to say that was the best service I have ever gotten while dining out. The staff were friendly, informative, and were very attentive which made the dining experience wonderful! Pros: Service, Service, Service and Food choices! more

Wonderful Service 2/23/2008

My teenage son & I ate there on a Saturday, early evening, and it was made fun by the general manager of Tom Phams organization and our waiter. Both really went out of their way to make the meal interesting for my son and ""foodie"" in training. Food was amazing, but not cheap. Pros: food, service & ambiance Cons: kinda expensive more

Caterpillar Lounge Rocks! 12/17/2007

Great place to start the evening, but it does get crowded by 11:30 or so (at least on weekends)! Trendy place where it's fun to get dressed up to go to, see, and bee seen. With a fabulous drink menu, if you can't find it here I don't think it exists. Very friendly (not to mention easy on the eyes) staff - it's part of the regular rotation now! Pros: Late night happy hour, food, decor more

Great restaurant! 12/17/2007

I brought my in-laws here from Boston and they absolutely loved it! I have been a frequent guest of Azia many times and I will continue to go back. The staff and management is so warm and friendly the minute you walk in the door. The food is amazing, and so are the drinks! Great experience every time. Thank you Azia! Pros: FOOD more

best wings ever! 12/17/2007

My buddy Kurt and I would always go here at night. The food is always good. The Sushi is the best I have ever had in MN and the oyster wings are the best I have ever had period. The women here are always super hot and the lounge is fun. This is one of the best date spots MN has to offer bring a girl for the sushi and drinks and she will be impressed. Well worth the money. The owner rocks as well one night Kurt and I had so much fun there was no way any of us where driving home. So the owner gave us a parking pass for the night so we wouldn?t get towed. Find that anywhere ells and I will be surprised. Pros: women, food, survice, view, one of a kind! Cons: hot on hot summer nights more

Just not worth the money 11/18/2007

Had a friend who went there on his anniversary. It was pretty busy so he asked how long he'd have to wait and was told 45 minutes. He decided to wait. A hour and 20 minutes later he's still waiting and no one even bothers to update them. After asking what's up and when he would get a table he's told .... to make a reservation next time. No apologies, no service. MAKE A RESERVATION. COME ON!!!\r \r Anyways so if $12 watered down drinks are your thing, halfway decent but horribly overpriced food makes you satisfied and service is a DIY concept for you ......then by all means... Azia is the place to go. Pros: The food isn't bad it's just double the price of the same stuff at other places Cons: Value, Service more

My newest favorite restaurant 10/12/2007

I've lived in Minneapolis for 5 years now and I have never been to Azia, even after many praises by friends and family members. I came here for my birthday party last night and had an amazing time! They customized a menu, just for my party and the staff was so amazing to me and my guests! Even though the atmosphere is very, very nice and beautiful, the prices are affordable and you definitely get a great portion of food. The owner also came over to our table to greet us, which you rarely see at restaurants any more! My experience was great and I will return !! Pros: Food, service, customized event service, atmosphere more

Deliciously unique 10/5/2007

Very gratifying, extremely professional & courteous staff, was not stiff or stuffy in anyway, had a very warm feel, all three of us thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we are P I C K Y! Get the beef satay and lobster w/black bean sauce!! A great place if you want to give yourself and guests a treat.\r \r Pros: cuisine outstanding, service, experience more

WORST RESTAURANT IN MINNEAPOLIS 10/4/2007

I wish I would have listened to the countless people who told me NOT to go to Azia. In fact, I'd had terrible service experiences there myself, but thought the overpriced food was occasionally worth the rude & unavailable servers. \r My dinner last night was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. First, we were seated in the Anemoni side of the restaurant even though we had specifically requested (in our reservation) to be seated on the Azia side. We asked the hostess and she reseated us. Then, we were encouraged by our server to order from both sides of the menu. Wanting sushi, 3 of my friends ordered from the Anemoni side. The other 4 ordered entrees. After getting our entrees in a prompt manner, the three others waited 25 minutes for their food. We asked our waiter about it and he brought over the hostess who told us that it was our responsibility to tell the waiter that he should put the sushi order in first. \r After waiting another 10 minutes, my friends got their sushi. However, instead of the avocado & asparagus rolls that they had specifically requested and gone over with the waiter several times, they received salmon, asparagus & avocado rolls. Being vegetarians, they asked for the food to be returned and requested the manager. He told us that all of the sushi would be complimentary, since we'd waited so long and the order was incorrect. But after receiving our bill, it was clear that he had not taken off my other friend's sushi.\r \r I urge everyone who's considering Azia to go elsewhere. Terrible service, overpriced, bad drinks and no follow-up! Cons: Service, lighting, atmosphere, snobby, overpriced, terrible managers more

Treasure in the city 9/17/2007

My colleagues suggested this place before my business partner and I came to Minneapolis on a work trip from Los Angeles. We were very impressed and had a very pleasant experience. After a very filling dinner we migrated over to the caterpillar room which is a swanky lounge within the restaurant. The atmosphere was very fun, upbeat, but not obnoxiuos. We enjoyed some 25 year old Macallan and was very entertained by our bartender, Cory. Great bartender, very funny but didn't interrupt our conversation. I am glad to know this place exists in Minneapolis because I will visit here again upon my next trip. Pros: Service, food, atmosphere more

Best in the Twin Cities 9/3/2007

I went to Azia over Labor Day weekend while visiting Minneapolis and finally had the pleasure to finally try it. PERFECT! Our server was so attentive to our party and his knowledge on the menu was increible. It was a busy night but the owner personally came over to our table and talked to us and asked how our food was (which u never see anymore), along with other tables in the restaurant. It was a very nice restaurant but very warm and comforting. I would recommend the sushi and the cranberry curry with shrimp (i had this and loved it!). If you haven't been to this place and live or are planning a visit to the Twin Cities, I would highly recommend adding this to your ""to do"" list :) :) :) Pros: everything i saw and ate Cons: finding a parking spot was tough but they provide valet more

Terrible Serivce 9/2/2007

A big disappointment. The lack of service ruined the night for my husband and me. We saw our waiter a total of 4 times during the entire meal. The only enjoyable part of the evening was the sushi, however the 40 minute wait with no sign of our waiter between placing our order and receiving our food was a big detractor. The service only went down from there. We were hoping order an extra roll or nigiri, but our waiter was no where to be seen. We decided to end our meal and perhaps have some desert or coffee, however we waited a good 15 to 20 minutes after finishing our meal before anyone appeared to clear our plates or ask about desert. By that point all we wanted was our check and a fast exit and even that seemed to take forever. I agree with other reviewers on this forum that for the same money or less there are far better bets for an enjoyable night of sushi. Pros: good sushi Cons: terrible service more

I was pleased 7/2/2007

Visited Azia over the weekend, and had a great time. We sat on their patio, enjoyed a mixture of appetizers, had a few great cocktails although I can't recall the names of them. Nice place and staff, thanks Azia! Pros: drinks more

I LOVE AZIA RESTAURANT 6/27/2007

I've been a regular at Azia for the past 3 years and will continue to be a loyal customer. The service staff is always so warm and have great personalities. The food is great! I have tried everything but I would highly recommend the kannon steak and potatoes, walleye, lobster in black bean sauce. For appetizers try the potstickers, tar tar and malaysian skewers. I like their late night happy hour after 10PM but for you early birds who leave work at 4, they have happy hour from around 3-6pm. Thank you Azia! Pros: food food food and lighting in dining room and caterpillar lounge Cons: parking on weekends, but just valet! more

What a fun restaurant!! 6/27/2007

My girlfriends took me to Azia for my bachelorette party a couple of days ago. This was my first time there and I fell in love! The atmosphere is so warming, and our server Michael was incredible! His knowledge of the menu was fabulous (i'm notorious for asking a million questions before I finally decide what to order!). We ordered the Crab Rangoon, Shrimp Tempura Rolls, and Beef Satay as starters...all of them so tasty! For dinner I had the Grilled Duck Breast that had green curry in it and it melted in my mouth! I highly recommend going for dinner and migrating to their Caterpillar Lounge afterwards. I am very excited to return!!!!! Pros: Atmosphere, Food, Service Cons: No cons more

As one critic states, "Sacred Asian art meets James Bond chic." Let Chef and Owner, Thom Pham, take you on a culinary adventure ranging from traditional stir frys to a North Woods Walleye in Jalapeno-Basil sauce, to a perfectly braised tenderloin topped with an exotic Asian mushroom demi-glace. When you visit, chances are good that Thom himself is on site and tending to every guest as though he's invited them for a private dinner party. In fact, fundamentally, he has.
Azia also offers a wide variety of original house cocktails, the largest sake menu in Minnesota, a refined wine and list and beer, bottled and on tap.
