i think it is wonderful that I rescued a pit and the first Dr told me that he would not get aggressive and attack my other dogs until he was two - and I couldn't leave him alone with them unless I wanted to come back to dead dogs. Nice beside manner.\r \r But what really makes me pissed is a full blood work up - a five hundred dollar tab and a dead dog two weeks later - yes Dr Willams , my dog died two hours after taking him to emergency care after you fixed his eye - how about that every test you could have done before putting him under should have told you that his body was riddled with cancer - scam another $500 poop more

I wouldn't go anywhere else 7/9/2010

I have been taking my baby there for 15 1/2 years -since she was 8 weeks old. The staff at Avondale Vet have gone out of there way numerous times to fit her in and have always treated us with the utmost concern and respect. I wouldn't consider taking her anywhere else. Dr Williams and Dr Silk are wonderful vets and the front office staff is terrifc. more

Bad place for pet care 3/29/2010

I wouldn't donate a dime to go into Avondale's pockets! My dog had to have emergency surgery on Friday and they wouldn't even consider helping us out. I had $250 cash to get her in and they wouldn't even give me a call back because they wanted $450 plus up front to take care of her. I took her to Afford a care on SE 14th and they took her in right away, did the surgery she needed and all the med's she needed and did it all for just under $250. Not only that, They let me wait till the next day to pay the balance of $28.57. The vet even stayed after hours to make sure my dog got good care and everything she needed. When the surgeon opened her up, her infected uterus burst. Yes, I was told If she was made to wait just 1 more day I would have lost her. We used to always bring our pets into Avondale for all there care, so yes, we were established for years with them. But when they refused to help us, that was the last straw with them. Oh come now, We have been taking our animals to Avondale for 15 years and have found the office staff to be top-flight: kind considerate responsive. I am taking my kitten there right now... more

Rude staff 9/3/2008

The vets at Avondale Veterinary Hospital have a good reputation, but unfortunately the front office staff--particularly the office manager--have been rude and inconsiderate (interrupting, failing to listen, and acting like they have hundreds of better things to do with their time) every time I have dealt with them. This mars the hospital. Perhaps they are different with regular clients. more

Slow Service 5/21/2008

My family has used the Avondale Veterinary Hospital for years. So, when I got my cats, I thought I'll just go here. The service is so slow. They make you sign in for everything, even if you are picking up a prescription that you called in. Then they wait on other individuals that come in after you. The vets do a good job and really do care about your pets. However, the front desk service is terrible. I am currently looking for a new vet. more

Avondale Veterinary Hospital is Outstanding...Now Dr. Silk is there! 10/27/2007

From the moment you and your pets walk in til the moment you walk out you will feel welcome, you will know that you are important, and that everyone there has great concern for your babies...they are incredible folks. The children and I are thrilled that Dr. Silk is there now and she is the best in the business...she has been our family vet since Maggie was a baby. Friendly staff who love animals 8/1/2005

The staff at Avondale Veterinary Hospital are the ones who really make the place feel warm and welcoming, not just for owners but for the pets themselves. Every effort is made to reassure anxious animals and there's enough room in the waiting area to keep jittery pets away from other patients (and of course messes don't matter and are taken care of within seconds). The vets really connect with the animals like people who genuinely like them, andthat makes a big difference in how your pet reacts. All medications and instructions are explained so you understand them, and they encourage you to call if you have any questions or concerns. The hospital also offers both short- and long-term boarding, and the prices are about average. There's plenty of parking and traffic isn't usually a problem except around rush hour. more
