I have been taking my dog to Avon Animal Hospital for 8 years. Every single time I come in for a check-up the vet makes sure to let his assistant know that my dog is a black cocker spaniel (in a "beware" tone).He is so friendly! I take great care of my buddy and was told, after a two second glance at his teeth from an assistant, that he needed to have his teeth cleaned. I said, "Absolutely!" I felt horrible that my buddy had teeth that needed cleaning!I signed a consent form and was told by the assistant that occasionally, under worst case scenarios, a tooth or two might be extracted. I told everybody at the hospital how nervous I was about leaving him to get anesthetized. Later in the afternoon I get a call saying I could pick my dog up and that ELEVEN teeth had been pulled. NO CALL. NO PRIOR EXAMINATION. NO CHANCE FOR ME TO GET A SECOND OPINION. This dog is not the same dog. He looks different and the next 48 hours were horrible to witness.
