Aver's Pizza

I've posted the following review on Google Maps before and I'm posting it again: I live downtown on Kirkwood and my pizza came at least an hour late, about an hour and 15 minutes after I called in fact, even though I was told it would only be a 45 minutes wait. I called Avers back to address this issue and all I was told by the "manager" was that he or "they, couldn't do anything about it", and that they usually "don't do anything" about late pizzas. My friends and I had been regulars and even though I didn't have bad experiences like this as often, they commented that Avers had been rude towards their similar concerns various times before and have charged one of my friends' credit card even after it has been declined, causing her bank account to go into a negative, all without telling her a thing until she called about her pizza not being delivered. Overall, whether our cases are an anomaly or not, it has been a very disappointing experience, especially since we were not compensated for a pizza that either was delivered late or made late. We have proof that's the sticker on the pizza box and we compared the time. As tasty as their pizzas can be, we're not planning to support Avers anymore. more

Go carry out, that place is nasty, rude, the managers are idiots, and no one ever washes their hands!! cash register right onto my pizza every time. Never again. Avers deal used to be 8.88 now its 13.99 plus a hidden 99 cent delivery charge, that the driver told me the owners get!, seriously check your receipt! They must be going under, oh and they just closed the columbus location, probably because of health code. more

Aver's is locally-owned, not even remotely a chain, and they have several pizzas that have won national awards ... and are, as expected, very, very tasty! The Cream and Crimson (named after IU's colors, but otherwise, not "rah-rah" like some places in town) is our favorite, with alfredo sauce and cheese, a layer of oven-roasted red potato seasoned with fresh garlic and dill, and topped with bacon, cheddar, and creamy gorgonzola cheese. It sounds strange to put potatoes on a pizza, but it's terrific. Really, every pizza we've had from Aver's has been tasty, and it's good to put your pizza dollars into the pocket of someone local, you know? I am ordinarily not the biggest fan of pizza. Aver's however has won me over. They have so many truly interesting toppings and combinations. They are very original. I really enjoy the pesto sauces they have. Their breadsticks are pretty good too. They also have a berry soda that's kind of fun.They always deliver really fast. more

Thick crust, not too greasy, excellent toppings. One medium, two drinks, breadsticks, and cheese for less than $10. more
