Wanting to try something new in Salt Lake I gave Avenues Day Spa a try. I would not recommend it to anyone. First off the entire feel of the ""spa"" is like someone's apartment. It's noisy, cold and not at all relaxing. I had purchased a pedicure / massage combo and had requested a deep tissue massage (and was willing to pay extra for it). When I arrived I sat for 20 minutes waiting for some sort of instruction or welcome and someone finally came and said that my therapist was stuck in traffic and was late did I mind waiting. Yes, I mind, I'd been sitting there for 20 minutes already. So they decided to start my pedicure. These are done in the waiting area - a very poor choice. Not relaxing, not private, not quiet. I had to ask twice for a cup of tea and they brought out a snack with it (Costco trail mix, Ritz Crackers with Cheeze Whiz and two slices of apple - no thank you) Then my therapist arrives - my toes are still wet from the polish - and I mention this to the two women who just look at each other and shrug and say that don't worry, they look great. At this point my blood-pressure is already high enough, I decide to let it go and hope that the massage will be a better experience. It was slightly. However, since the massage room is right off the waiting area, I could hear the other employees chatting, dishes crashing, etc. And the deep tissue was a joke - not even close. There are plenty of day spas in Salt Lake / Park City and surrounding areas that deliver a nice, relaxing atmosphere, I will not go back to this one.
