Inconsistent and sloppy hair color 8/24/2010

I have had my hair colored twice at this salon. The first time was ok for high and low lights. I returned and the hairdresser, Kim put many lowlights on my hair to tone down the overall blonde effect and lack of contrast. more

I'VE LIVED IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD 15 YEARS, I COULDN'T BELIEVE EVEN THE 2 NEGATIVE THINGS I READ ABOUT THIS SALON. YOU ARE GREETED ALWAYS VERY PROFESSIONAL. AS WELL AS VERY CARING PEOPLE WHO UNDERSTAND AND REALLY LISTEN TO WHAT YOU WANT. THEY WASH AND CONDITION HAIR WITH FABULOUS HEAD MASSAGE. ON TOP OF THAT WHILE GETTING THE CUT THEY GIVE THIS AMAZING TEA'S WHILE YOU WAIT, AS WELL AS THE FINAL RESULT. ALL I SAY IS GO TRY FOR YOURSELF IF YOU ARE LOCAL YOU WILL SEE. SEEING IS BELIEVING. FABULOUS PLACE!! AAA RATING CB Pros: THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

Mediocre Cut/ Lack of Customer Care 6/1/2008

Aveda (on Montana)- terrible! I arrive for my haircut- and the storefront is deceiving, it's tiny in there. I change into a smock in an extremely stinky, small bathroom and sit. The stylist was nice, but didn't seem overly professional- fine. I move 3ft back to the sink and she tells me I have split ends- doesn't even wash my hair, just slaps cold conditioner on + goes to answer the phone- she's by herself. Then she rinses/ combs my hair+ begins cutting. She was pretty slow + didn't seem overly competent ... but again fine, it's only a basic trim and I'd asked her to just please give it some shape as it was growing out. The result (after about an hour) was underwhelming, limp + stringy. So by then the owner comes back and is behind the counter. I go to pay- $100! I understand that SM is expensive, but I just moved from NYC where I went to the nice/cheery flagship Aveda + I don't think it was ever more than $80+tip. (Bumble&Bumble was about $125, but you really got what you paid for- a pampering experience + looked good when you left w/ a real haircut that would grow out well). So I asked the owner very nicely ""$100 for a trim? I didn't even get my hair washed"". Unfazed, she said yes. So I paid + then tipped the ""stylist"" $20 on top of that- not her fault it was so overpriced + the atmosphere sucked, but it really was a supercuts level haircut. I get in the car and drive away, but am feeling taken advantage of- so I called abt 2 min after walking out- no answer. I left a friendly message but said I'd just been in + was thinking I may have been charged incorrectly and would the owner who I'd JUST spoken with please call me back to at least confirm that a base trim is $100+tip. She never did. She seemed totally apathetic re: customer service + then couldn't care less that a nice customer walked away feeling overcharged with a crappy trim that needed re-doing. I'm writing not because of the mediocre haircut, but b/c of the owner's total lack of regard for a customer! more

Best place for a guy to get a haircut!!! 5/3/2008

I finally found a place that I feel comfortable with getting my haircut in. The girls there are really a nice bunch. The place doesn't look like a salon at first but they have a service area in the back away from all the hustle and bustle and I'd recommend it to all of the guys, like myself, who really don't look forward to haircuts and the whole process. Pros: Small world charm, VERY relaxing and professional services (A definite THUMBS UP) more

The Absolute Best experience that I ever had!!! 4/23/2008

I originally went into this place just for hair products but after speaking with the salesgirl and one of the stylists I was definitely sold on getting something done with my mop of hair. I was treated to a neck and shoulder massage that just seemed to melt off all those hours I spent in the courtroom and I left feeling so relaxed and looked like a different man. After I took my wife to this place we both are now frequent clients of this salon. We just love these Aveda products and the people who work at this little gem of a salon on Montana Ave. more

Best Place Ever!!! 4/23/2008

I completely disagree with the unhappy customer. I have been patronizing this store and salon for thirteen years. The people that work there are friendly and extremely knowledgeable, and the services they provide are of the highest quality. They spend a great deal of time helping to solve any problems one might have, often taking twenty minutes of their time to apply the hair products or makeup to show you how to improve whatever concerns you have. I have haircuts , color services, and facials at this salon. The Aveda color is always rich and vibrant, my haircuts are always amazing and the facials are soothing and relaxing. I highly recommend this place!!!! more

rude employees 8/26/2007

As much as I love Aveda products, I would not want to buy them from this store! The employees are simply rude. While in the act of purchasing multiple products and talking to the salesgirl, she asked, ""Are you going to pay or what?"" NOT a store i would ever visit again. There is a hair salon on Wilshire that also sells Aveda products. Too bad I was pressed for time, or else we would have taken our business elsewhere. Pros: Aveda products (of which this store is obviously not the sole retailer) Cons: horrible sales service more
