Aveda (on Montana)- terrible! I arrive for my haircut- and the storefront is deceiving, it's tiny in there. I change into a smock in an extremely stinky, small bathroom and sit. The stylist was nice, but didn't seem overly professional- fine. I move 3ft back to the sink and she tells me I have split ends- doesn't even wash my hair, just slaps cold conditioner on + goes to answer the phone- she's by herself. Then she rinses/ combs my hair+ begins cutting. She was pretty slow + didn't seem overly competent ... but again fine, it's only a basic trim and I'd asked her to just please give it some shape as it was growing out. The result (after about an hour) was underwhelming, limp + stringy. So by then the owner comes back and is behind the counter. I go to pay- $100! I understand that SM is expensive, but I just moved from NYC where I went to the nice/cheery flagship Aveda + I don't think it was ever more than $80+tip. (Bumble&Bumble was about $125, but you really got what you paid for- a pampering experience + looked good when you left w/ a real haircut that would grow out well). So I asked the owner very nicely ""$100 for a trim? I didn't even get my hair washed"". Unfazed, she said yes. So I paid + then tipped the ""stylist"" $20 on top of that- not her fault it was so overpriced + the atmosphere sucked, but it really was a supercuts level haircut. I get in the car and drive away, but am feeling taken advantage of- so I called abt 2 min after walking out- no answer. I left a friendly message but said I'd just been in + was thinking I may have been charged incorrectly and would the owner who I'd JUST spoken with please call me back to at least confirm that a base trim is $100+tip. She never did. She seemed totally apathetic re: customer service + then couldn't care less that a nice customer walked away feeling overcharged with a crappy trim that needed re-doing. I'm writing not because of the mediocre haircut, but b/c of the owner's total lack of regard for a customer!
