Steve Arnold of Avalon Home Service tells a good story before you pay him, but expect a disaster. We contracted with Steve Arnold and Avalon Homes in January 2009 to do a simple shower remodel. He collected almost all of his money upfront, to include money for the fixtures and shower door he insisted on ordering himself. The checks were cashed the same day we wrote them, but he never ordered the fixtures or shower door. He had a string of unqualified workmen come through and he provided inadequate supervision and direction throughout the project. We could not get him to put together a plan or act professionally. Always an excuse; his aunt died, his Outlook didn't work, his phone didn't work out of town. After four months of a torn up master bath, Arnold finally had a qualified worker complete the tile, but he never delivered the purchased materials and he has stopped communicating in any way. There is a pattern of Arnold doing exactly this (see Rip-Off Report - Deceived and Disgusted - report # 431512 for a similar story to ours). We are going to file suit to recover our monetary damages, and will file a criminal complaint for the stolen fixture money. His office address shown is an abandoned building.
Pros: Steve Arnold will actually show up to take your checks
Cons: He will take your checks and not deliver on the contract
