I bought a minivan from AutoMart in Salt Lake City two weeks ago. I was told specifically that the engine and transmission were good. I really couldn't hear any sounds in the engine so I bought the van. My wife and kids were about 3 hours from home when the check engine light came on. I had the car looked at by a mechanic as soon as I got home and learned that it has serious engine problems! I took it to a second mechanic for another opinion and he said the same thing. With this information I called Brian (sales manager) at Auto Mart to notify him of the issues (3 days after my purchase). He said there really wasn't a lot he could do for me and suggested I try to sell the car to someone else! I hate the thought of putting this problem on someone else. I checking into just fixing the engine and it will cost over $3000 (basically what I paid for the car!). I called Brian again to see if there was any way I could at least get SOME of my money back. Now no one if returning my phone calls (I have called Brian twice now with no return).
I am SO disappointed, I can't have a wife and kids driving in this car because it could die at any time and I can't afford to fix it ether. I'll update this if Auto Mart ends up doing anything to help me, but in the mean time I would drive to another dealership.
