I used Austin Tree Experts last year to trim some shooters off the live oaks on my property. The arborist that came out (Michah) was young and personable. He submitted an estimate of around $200 for the shooters and said that someone wouldn't be able to come out and two the work for another two weeks. Two weeks later, a group of Mexican workers showed up and proceeded to chop shooters of the trees without paining the wounds. They also ripped some very nice decorative ivy off the oak in the back yard without asking. \r

I called them again this year because of the terrible reviews I read on other companies in this forum --- to give them another chance. Apparently, they have only one person handling the phones (Casey), another twenty-something. First she schedules the work for a Thursday morning, two weeks out. I get a call on the Tuesday before my appointment saying Michah is running late. I told her the appointment wasn't until Thursday. She apologized for double-booking. On Thursday, I cleared my schedule to be available in the morning for the appointment with Micah. I get a call just two minutes before the appointed time from Casey saying that Micah wasn't going to be able to make it and she didn't know if he's make it at all that day or any other day. I called her back (still giving them the benefit of the doubt) and asked when I could at least expect a call from Micah. She said he'd call me in the evening after his last appointment, and that it would be late. Needless to say, I never got the call.\r

Bottom line, this is an operation run by young, unprofessional people that are not only extremely disorganized, but find the cheapest (most likely least qualified) help to execute their jobs for them. I am surprised to see so many shining reviews here. Perhaps my experience is just the exception to the rule. Or perhaps these kids just had their friends write some reviews for them.
