As another reviewer said, Dr. Fehrenkamp is a little quirky (I guess I am, too, so I don't care), but I've been going to him for over 10 years and he really does care about his patients.
Yes, I may spend some time in the waiting room (although this is not nearly as much of a problem since they moved to their new--and MUCH better--office), but once he's in the exam room with me, the first thing he asks about is my life: my job, my mother, etc. and he tells me about his family. AFTER that, we move on to business and he never rushes my questions or makes me feel like they're dumb. He stays up-to-date on the latest and greatest, and probably my favorite thing about his care is that he's not a dictator. He understands that living with diabetes is difficult and sucks and that I'm not a robot--and he doesn't expect me to be. My doctor when I lived in the Northeast was nice, but I always left feeling like I'd failed because my A1C wasn't good enough. Dr. F is understanding whilst trying to keep me on track, and that type of approach works best for me.
Some staff used to be brazen at the old office location, but now, everyone is really pretty nice and pleasant, as well as more on top of things. I'm not sure why they moved, but I'm glad they did, as his practice seems to run much more smoothly now and everyone there seems to be much happier.
So I recommend him if you want a doctor who is aware that his patients are human and are not just dollar signs.
