Austin American-Statesman

The articles are appropriate for Central Texas. I prefer their newsprint page by page style over the web page style of so many other forms of electronic information. The iPad app for the e-paper works OK most of the time. There is no manual download button, just an automatic download whenever their computer detects that you are online. My main complaint is consistency in that the editions seem to keep getting later and later in delivering the e-paper for download. I have had e-papers available for download at 1:30 AM and now for the Saturday edition I am still waiting at 3:40 AM for the download to become available. It seems that in the age of electronic media they are still stuck in the age of the newsprint style of doing business. more

Would give 0 stars if the site allowed me....The Austin American-Statesman has by far the worst customer service I have ever come across in a business. I have been trying to simply unsubscribe from the multiple emails I receive every day. The link on their emails takes you to an expired webpage and after speaking with 3 different "customer service" reps, and sending emails to multiple deartments I'm still receiving the emails! Apparently they can't fix it so now my work email will continue to receive these annoying emails every day. It's borderline harassment at this point. I don't know if that's part of their strategy to lock in subscribers but if it is they should be reported to the BBB. DO NOT SUBCRIBE!!!! more

The Austin American Statesman is the leading newspaper in Austin. However, I wouldn't say that it's the best. It sometimes provides a very one-sided view of the current events and editorial pages. However, despite that problem, it does provide comprehensive coverage of local, state and national news. The Statesman, as it is more widely known is available at most stores and sells for 1.60. It's a very complete paper that includes travel information, classifieds, sales ads, business and technology sections. their subscription rates aren't the best so don't get suckered in. more

Of course, it carries the normal classifieds, store sales, arts, financial and editorial pages. It is a wealth of information for locals and visitors. The Sunday paper also has sales papers with coupons worth bucks. more

Austin American Statesman is a popular local newspaper, It includes all kind of local news, and it is easy to go to his website to search what you want. If you want to find some informaton like jobs, housing and buy/sell, it is a definite place you need to go. It is a daily newspaper, and the price is also acceptable. more

The Austin American Statesman newspaper has a daily subscription service. I subscribe to the Sunday ONLY service however. I do not like that they always try to sell me the daily service, even though I only want the Sunday one for the articles like travel and the ads and coupons. The delivery rates are great, and my newspaper is never wet or ruined when I receive it. more
