I just don't get the bad reviews on this place, I just moved to Austin and needed a fridge and washer dryer ASAP, and looked this company up called them with a few models I was interested in. They didn't have the exact models in stock, but had some comparable units. I took a trip down to their showroom and was pretty impressed with the amount of appliance they had. They not only were able to find me exactly what I was looking , but they hooked me up with same day delivery for 99$ delivered and installed on a package deal. Saved some $ and Would shop here again for sure.. more

Believe the negative reviews! Don't expect any service after your credit card has been charged. Their installers are inferior, they came to install a dishwasher and a microwave vent hood with no drill. ???? The dishwasher was installed crooked, the microwave/vent hood has still not been installed after 2+ weeks. When we contacted the store to discuss what to do next they basically told us ""you're on your own"". I prefer to buy from a local business but if they can't back the products they sell or help when there's a problem...why should I? I'll stick with Sears or Home Depot from now on. Even if I spend a few dollars more there, in the long run they will back their product and support me after the sale. The owners at Aus-Tex are crooked liars. more

THESE PEOPLE ARE CON-ARTISTS! Buyer Beware: You may think the prices are good, but once your appliance is delivered you're on your own!!! \r \r When the compressor went out on the 4-day-old fridge I purchased for a client, the manager could not have acted more uninterested. He basically told me it wasn't his problem and that I needed to contact Frigidaire. When I balked that AusTex had just sold it to me 4 DAYS AGO and asked that they return or exchange it for a replacement, he said ""I don't need a broken refrigerator sitting around my shop.""\r What?!\r \r He then proceeded to explain that AusTex is a dealer, not a manufacturer, so they have no obligation to stand behind the products and they do not service them. So are Sears and Best Buy - that is who I will be using next time! \r \r Meanwhile, my client has to find a temporary fridge, unload and move all their stuff. The soonest service appointment I could arrange through a Frigidaire-authorized provider is in a week. Also, when I explained the situation to the provider, they were shocked that I had no means of recourse with AusTex or that anyone would treat customers that way.\r \r It's needless to say, I will never make the mistake of buying an appliance from AusTex again! Bought a Samsung refrigerator from Bill at Aus-Tex and the freezer didn't work. After talking with Bill and Samsung, it was supposed to be replaced. Bill then said that he did not have a compareable model to replace it with at the same cost. At the same time I was talking to him about the LG washer/dryer combo that was listed on his website for $999.00. I ordered it from him. He said he would check stock at LG. At that time he changed the price on his website to $1,599.00 and said it was no longer available. You try to support the independently owned business and they treat you with no respect. GO BIG BOX STORES! more

Becareful when scheduling an appointment with these people. They say you have a 2 hour window but they dont tell you the time until the day of the appointment. I work downtown austin and was told that I could have an afternoon appointment. The tech left me a message saying that I was the only north call today and that my time slot was 9 - 11 am. I had planned my time off from work. So their 2 hr window would have become an 8hr window. Becarefull when scheduling. they do not put coustomers first but only themselves more

My wife and I had a horrible experience with these crooks when purchasing appliances for a new home last year. I wrote a detalied explanation on Yelp if anyone is interested. Many (most) of the favorable reviews here on Citysearch are fake, clearly posted by the owners. The ones that talk about how they are local, family owned, have a huge selection and they'll order for you, etc. etc. All I'm saying is, THIS REVIEW IS NOT FAKE and you are really taking a huge risk dealing with these dishonest charlatans. I strongly recommend you find a good deal elsewhere. more

I was sorry to read some of the reviews on Aus-Tex Appliance, but recently I was in need of a new Dishwasher and a new washer and dryer. I heard about these guys through a friend of mine who said they are a local family business, and that they had great prices, and a huge selection. I went down to see them and when I went in I was nicely greeted and helped to a HUGE selection of appliances. They showed me some units on their floor and told me if I did not like anything on the floor they could order me something in out of any of the 65 brands or so they were dealers for, I ended up getting a great deal on a Samsung Dishwasher that was stainless outside and Inside for about $400, I also got a washer dryer set for about 600 dollars off of what I saw it in Sears for. Then I asked for them to hold em for about 2 weeks till I had some work done, which they did and then they deliver and installed them the date I needed. The delivery crew was great calling me the morning of the install and an hour before they arrived to give me time to get ready for them. They also set me up with State and City rebates for both units that I got about 350 dollars back for the appliance being energy star rated. All in all I was very impressed with this family run business, I will be telling anyone who is in need of an appliance down the road ..GOOD JOB AUS-TEX!! more

I went to Aus-Tex appliance this past weekend looking for a new fridge because it was the only Item that didn't come with my new home. I went to Home Depot and their prices were a lot higher than I expected, but one of their employees actual told me about this place Aus-tex and I went and checked them out and was greeted by a nice gentleman named Robert who showed me a huge selection of fridges and I ended up getting a Frenchdoor Stainless fridge for about a thousand dollars cheaper than what I would have paid in the box Store. Then they Installed it the date AND time I wanted . The delivery guys were very friendly as well. All in all I was very pleased with my expierience here and I will be letting others know about these guys..Thanks Aus-Tex more

I went in to their South Austin location last Sunday and bought a dishwasher with my mother. Today my handyman came to install it and it was leaking water out of the front and side. They gave me a number to call GE to fix it, but there turned out to be no option available to SET UP AN APPOINTMENT, only one to confirm or cancel an existing one. I'm very unhappy with my experience with these folks... more

This is our third and fourth appliance purchased at this 'warehouse'. We have consistently found the best pricing on specific models that we have choosen based on online research, availibility and pricing. Customer and manufacurer ratings are considered when we buy a unit, as this is not a return anything if you don't like it environment. We have received prompt and fantastic delivery of our washer, dryer, refrigerator and dish-washer, including installations over a 3 year period on 3 different occasions. Very unhappy with the custormer service. Their prices online do not match what you will pay in the store. Then when you are told a product would be in on a certain day, it was not! I was told that our new microwave and trim kit would arrive on a Monday (ordered on the Thursday before). I was excited and willing to pay a little more to have it in sooner. Monday came and no microwave or trim kit. Tuesday, the microwave came in, but no trim kit. I found out on Tuesday, that the microwave would have never come in on Monday as they were not going to the GE location to even get it! The owner told me that I would be getting my trim kit no later than Thursday! Guess what today is Thursday and no trim kit!!!!!!!!!! They don't know when or where it is at this point. The most frustrating part is that I spent more money to get it sooner and now will get it later than I could have gotten it from another company. I will never use them again, if they can't get a small order placed how can you expect them to get a large order done right. Oh yeah, customer service was something like this: Sorry, the rebate program has us swamped. When I went in to pick up the microwave, at least 3 people were sitting around talking about nothing! more

I just wanted to write a review and let people now this is a cool little spot to support local business while getting a great bargain. Mostly because I know most people dont write reviews when everything goes smoothly, but I am gonna say that my experiences with these guys were great. Wonderful Customer Service ! I am enchanted by Mr. Bill, probably the patriarch of this company. What a pleasure to be helped by him. I took the time to enroll on Citysearch so I could give this company my complements. I love my new NXR 36in Range (delivered to me in 3 days), but I am really thankful to them for the Costumer Service they gave me when I called many times to ask questions and more questions about the range. I also talk to him about range hoods and he goes on to tell me the brand that he has on his house and etc... Very friendly and personable. Thanks again. more

Our brand new french door, bottom freezer, $1300.00 LG refrigerator went out about a month after we brought this little baby home. Called Austex after talking to nameless brainless on the phone about their product to the point of ripping someone's head off!! They were so pleasant and understanding it broke that rage and before long we were laughing about the situation I found myself in. To make long story short...Austex was in my house that day and I live in Buchanan Dam!! They worked around what they had on their plate that day and squeezed me in. They are A-W-E-S-O-M-E. OABTW....the POS went out again, so guess who I'm calling? Don't walk, run away from LG. more

I went to Austex a few weeks back to check it out because a friend mentioned them and said they have great floor model specials and were a hidden gem here in Austin. So I went down looking for a new fridge because my new house I just closed on had all the appliances except the fridge. I went in looking for a side by side but then Robert showed me some great deals on some closeouts and some Samsung french doors that were much lower then the price I would have paid had I gone to a Sears Lowes or HomeDepot. All in all I was really pleased with the Customer Service and my Fridge works great to go along with many compliments from my friends...The only tough part is finding it. it's a little hidden but they have a bunch of signs leadiing you back to their store. I guess thats why my buddy said it's a hidden gem. more

I went in to austex back in May to take advantage of th appliance rebates. They have the biggest selection of any appliance store in austin. I worked with Ben and we put together a Kitchen Aid set up.. some of it was in stock and the rest had to be ordered. My remodel was just getting started so they held my order at the warehouse for more than 90 days which was really helpful. I scheduled delivery a week before i needed it and charles installed everything and did a great job. Thanks guys I'll be back. more

I have read the previous reviews and there are a couple of things that need to be cleared up. Aus-Tex Appliance started as a used appliance company and has expanded there product lines into new,scratch and dent, and closeout merchandise. We rarely sell a used appliance and when we do it would only have a 30 day warranty. Everything else that we offer has the standard 1year factory warranty. This is the same warranty all new appliance companies offer. We get our appliances straight form the manufacturer and we do not service them- WE ARE NOT A SERVICE COMPANY!! We stock about 1300 appliances and any appliance that we do not have in stock we can more than likely order it for you. Special orders take approx. a week to arrive and we are at the mercy of the manufacturer and there given ETA's. Next, we do not give a customer an exact delivery time. We say that our delivery crew will call 30 minutes to 1 hour ahead. We are not a Pizza delivery service, people need to know that we are handling very heavy multiple appliances and some times installations can run longer than expected. There are many other companies that have this same policy- We tell you what day you are scheduled for and they are more than welcome to call and check the status throughout the day. One more thing, we are constantly trying to improve our customer service and when someone is rude and being nasty- We will treat you with the same respect you give us. We are not Walmart we will NOT stand for that behavior torwards our crew! more

Run away!!! Real snake oil salesmen here. Discontinued & overpriced appliances, non-existent (and often unpleasant) customer service. A total nightmare. I would describe my three-month odyssey here, but it would be too boring and unbelievable. Tried to do a good deed for an Austin independent business, but wish I'd just dealt with Sears, Home Depot, etc. BBB rating of ""F"" says it all. more

The people are arrogant, rude and clearly do not value customer service. It's unfortunate that even had to give them a one. This people conduct business very poorly. It's amazing they still exist. Pros: Absolutely none Cons: Everything more

I found AusTex with Google. I figured a local business open on Sun might be a good place to find a fridge since mine died on Fri. The sales associate, although not very helpful, was fairly courteous. He showed me one model and stated it would be ""in"" that week, to be delivered to my home on Fri or Sat. My total was $513.11 for fridge($399), delivery/ installation ($50) and hauling old fridge ($25). Pros: Assortment of appliances, cheap prices Cons: POOR Customer Service, cheap quality more
