Auld Dubliner Irish Pub

I have a friend that manages here now, and they have been through a couple of changes. Gone is mister boisterous. I have now eaten here twice, and both times found the food, the service, and the atmosphere outstanding. Its a GREAT place to bring a date. Its small and intimate, the tables are nicely seperated for private conversation, and there is lots of authentic Irish 'stuff' (I understand most of the interior is all authentic and was shipped from Ireland), so evenwalking through is a neat experience. The food is excellent, so far have tried the sheppards pie, the bangers and mash, the Guiness stew, and the corned beef and cabage. Portions are plentiful, and everything I have tried has been excellent. I would like it if the entre's came with soup or salad, some standard bread on the table. Niether of which is present. The wine variety is nice, and dont forget about a Guiness, Stella, or Harp! They will also serve you in the bar, and the fresh cooked thick potato chips go great with a beer or maybe a shot of Jamesons'. The only real setback I can think of is that there is pretty limited seating. I went on a Monday night, and we got the last table in the place......odly, when I went on a Thursday, it was quite a bit less crowded, so it depends on the day I suppose. I think the thing that speaks volumes, is that Irish people go there! Give it a shot! Prices are quite reasonable as well. Our check with two entres and a few beers came to $36.00. I love Irish pubs. I like the food, the atmosphere, the drinking...\r \r I've been frequenting The Auld Dubliner in Englwood for the past year or so. I would say I go in twice, maybe three times a month. The food is almost always good, the servers are generally friendly and attentive and the space itself is both cozy and authentic. Two Fridays ago 'dinner and drinks' with a friend was cut short by the obnoxious ramblings of a man with poor personal space boundaries who had obviously had too much to drink. Hoping that they would have him leave, we asked a passing server if the guy was a regular and whether or not he'd be staying long. When the server informed us that this man was in fact the MANAGER, we thought he was making a joke. Sadly, he was not.\r \r And sure, it could have been just a one-time lapse in judgement, but I went back just this past Saturday and it was the same story on a different day. Is this really any way to run a restaurant? \r \r Needless to say I won't be returning and I urge other potential customers to beware evening hours at the Auld Dubliner. Pros: The place itself is so interesting. Cons: It lacks strong and appropriate management. more
