Attorney Stephen P. Kelly is a general practice attorney located in Westborough, Massachusetts. His practice focuses on criminal defense, military law, and appellate litigation. He is licensed in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Texas.<br /><br />Prior to opening his office, Attorney Kelly was a Judge Advocate in the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General's Corp. His military career spanned two decades and he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2011. While in the Air Force, Attorney Kelly earned an outstanding reputation for his judgment, professionalism and top quality legal services. He had the privilege of serving in a variety of capacities including as a prosecutor, criminal defense attorney, medical law attorney and appellate advocate. His various assignments include a three year tour as chief regional defense counsel. In this role he represented senior Air Force officers and directly supervised and trained 6 senior trial defense attorneys, 24 junior defense attorneys, and 23 paralegals stationed at installations throughout the East Coast and Europe.<br /><br />Attorney Kelly is a Massachusetts and Worcester County native. He grew up in Northborough graduating from Algonquin Regional High School in 1979. He then attended Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York, where he earned his Bachelor's degree. After returning home, he worked in private industry for several years before enrolling at Boston University School of Law.<br /><br />While studying for the bar exam in the summer of 1990, Sadam Hussein invaded Kuwait. The ensuing mobilization preceding Operation Desert Storm inspired Attorney Kelly to apply to the Air Force Judge Advocate General Corp. As a result, he was commissioned a first lieutenant and entered active duty in the spring of 1991. Although Desert Storm was largely over by this time, Attorney Kelly saw service in the Middle East in support of Operation Southern Watch and Operation Enduring Freedom. .<br /><br />Upon retiring from the Air Force, Attorney Kelly returned to his Worcester County roots to open his own legal office. In his civilian practice, he applies to each client's case the values and skills cultivated over two decades of military service. He prides himself on providing his clients with honest.
