I called Atlanta Psychiatry and Neurology to schedule an appointment as a new patient. Someone answered the phone and I explained why I was calling. I was put on hold for 6 minutes. When the person came back, I asked if they usually make patients wait that long to assist them....especially considering most of the patients likely have some sort of psychiatric need. She asked ""again"", how could she help me. I decided to give this practice the benefit of doubt since I was looking for a psychiatrist who is closer to where I live. So, I explained ""again"" that I would like to make an appointment as a new patient. She said, ""okay, hold on please."" I sat listening to elevator music for another 3-4 minutes. I suffer from anxiety.....lol, I know!!! This was doing wonders for me. I decided then that I would take my business to another practice, but wanted to stay on hold until the person returned to express my concerns over this experience. It was ridiculous, unprofessional, and unacceptable. Who wants to see a doctor(psychiatrist) who thinks this unnerving experience is acceptable, or healthy, for his/her patients?
