Best

Excellent service. Mr.Anderson is a star. A lot of personal attention to customers needs.

Worst

My son attended for a year and a half and part of the time was really great. He built some self esteem and gained some confidence. However, I totally agree with the poster below...

Editorial review from Citysearch 7/9/2013

The instructors here are great. I have had the pleasure of Krav Maga training for the past 2 years at the studio and for the past 6 months with Michael Anderson as our instructor. My son and my daughter are also students in his kids American Karate & Tae Kwon Do. He and all his assistants give us all great personal attention, and I can see that the whole staff has a truly caring attitude for all their members. Our family recommends it highly to all our friends! more

his senior instructor michael anderson got a seventeen year old student pregnant! why would he let these kind of people around our children? more

Just What I Needed 7/18/2008

I was looking for a way to exercise but didn't want to join a gym as I get bored too easily. I called Joe Corley Karate and got a free private lesson with Joe Corley himself. I was instantly hooked! The classes are a great way to burn calories and things always stay interesting. I've already dropped 8lbs! Just 17 more to go and I'll be back to my ""fighting weight"". I'd recommend this program to anybody. more

Good For Other Sports 7/18/2008

I enrolled my son and daughter in Karate last year and the experience has been fantastic. They have taken both the physical and mental skills learned at Joe Corley Karate and benefitted in dance and soccer as well. This is the best thing my wife and I have done for the kids. more

Best Family Experience 7/18/2008

I like this school because Master Corley offers classes that allow me, my husband, and two children to train together. So many schools say they offer a family environment and then split the kids up with no opportunity to ever come together to train. Here we can come to the family class and have all the values we teach at home reinforced together. more

Best Time Ever 7/18/2008

If I couldn't make it to class here a few times a week I would have an absolute meltdown! Karate is the best stress reliever and Joe Corley offers the best karate! more

Truly the Best 7/18/2008

I've never met a more knowledgeable instructor than Master Corley. He has an ability to break concepts down and put them into language anyone can understand no matter what their level of skill in Martial Arts. Anyone from the newest beginner to the most seasoned black belt can benefit from his instruction. more

Character Builders 7/17/2008

As a football coach for the last 20 years, I know what it takes to turn boys into young men. Master Corley and his staff do too. I've seen my son change from the shy kid who was afraid to speak in class to a leader in school and in the karate studio. Their program does exactly what they say it will do--prepares young people to be future leaders in whatever field they choose. more

Great With Kids 7/17/2008

This program is outstanding for chldren. The staff is really behind the kids' personal success. They have an open door policy when it comes to questions or problems and you are always treated with respect. Yes, Mr. Corley is busy but I've never tried to reach him and not had him call me back or shoot me an email in response to a question. The service is truly great. more

A Woman's Place 7/17/2008

I took karate lessons some years ago at a very traditional male dominated school and was never taken seriously. I guess in those days everything was a boys club. It didn't take long for me to drop out. Now I have my daughter enrolled at Joe Corley Karate. One of the things I love about Joe Corley Karate is the strong leadership of his female staff. Ms. Commorato and Ms. Wilson are wonderful. And they show my daughter that a woman can be tough and strong too. My daughter says I should get back in and since I've discovered they have family classes I'm going to do just that! more

Improves Kids' Behavior at Home 7/15/2008

It's been my experience that kids can learn to kick and chop pretty much at any karate school in East Cobb. The real difference about Joe Corley is the emphasis on personal discipline. The ""0"" rule and the ""1"" rule have really helped get my 6 year old motivated to do things at home on his own! more

Accepted My Rank! 7/15/2008

I enquired at Joe Corley Karate after relocating to Marietta, thinking I would be starting over as a white belt. What a surprise to find my 2nd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do was accepted by Master Corley! His system can improve any style so you get to keep your rank! more

Too pushy for money 4/30/2008

My son attended for a year and a half and part of the time was really great. He built some self esteem and gained some confidence. However, I totally agree with the poster below that Mr. Corley is entirely too pushy about money. He is constantly badgering people to sign 3-year contracts (which involve a $5,000 loan) for a child that is only 5-6 years old. He doesn't get it when you tell him that you are not ready to make that type of committment for a child that young. Also, the instructor turnover ratio is extremely high. My son would get attached to one then he would leave. New instructors did not know the level of skill for all the children, and by the time they learned, they were gone. And Mr. Corley is completely unavailable for several months out of the year while planning his even, the Battle of Atlanta - he will not even take your phone call during that time. Our experience was not one that showed how much the instructors cared about the children, but rather how much Mr. Corley cared about money. Pros: Some good instructors, convenient location Cons: Way too much for money, high instructor turnover ratio more

Found Good Families 4/13/2008

We started tang soo do in California as a family. My sons, my husband and I loved it. When we moved to Georgia, we were afraid we would not find a place we could all enjoy the way we had in the San Fernando Valley. We tried the family class with Master Corley, and we were immediately impressed with the kind of instruction and the quality of the family environment we found here. Our kids are having great fun and learning all the martial arts principles we felt to be so important. Pros: Welcoming, nurturing instructors, great role models; great families and friends more

No more wallflowers 4/13/2008

Our twins were both great kids but would not really assert themselves. With middle school approaching, I was concerned they would be followers, or worse, targets. A mom in the neighborhood recommended Master Corley's Leadership Training Program. We enrolled in the Basic Course for twice a week course, and later in Black Belt Leadership Training when they qualified, through their hard work. I have marveled at the metamorphosis as they are so much more confident now and actually take charge of situations they used to shy away from. I see this making a HUGE difference in their lives! Many Thanks to my neighbor and to my children's instructors! Pros: Instructors have real life experience, truly care for the kids, schedule flexible more

Humility and Confidence 4/13/2008

I had friends who took karate as I was growing up, but my parents would not let me do it. As an adult, I often wished I had more confidence in certain situations, but there was no one to really talk to about that. I saw a box for a set of free lessons at Joe Corley karate and put my name in. Now, 2 years later, I am on track for my Black Belt. Friends I haven't seen in a while always tell me they sense something different about me. I feel more focused, and while I'm not where I want to be yet, the investment I've made in time and money is the best move I've ever made for my personal development. I really feel I can do anytnhing now I set my mind to. Interestingly, I feel increasingly greater humility as my confidence grows! I owe it to great instruction and great role modeling from my instructor / mentors! Pros: Professional, caring instructors, great levels of experience more

Good instruction, nice individual attention 2/25/2008

My son loves going to karate. Master Corley is a fair, kind man who genuinely cares about each student. He goes above and beyond to make sure that each student is able to reach his/her potential. At one point I was frustrated, and was very humbled by the way Master Corley dealt with the situation. more

Great Community Service 8/10/2006

aster Corley came to our school at then end of teh school year and presented a 3-week program to our 5th graders, at no charge. Not only did they learn Karate, but they also came away from the experience with new found respect for others, courtesy and self confidence. Here's what some of the kids have said: I think that it is a very good way to learn focus & discipline, and that's very important in day to day life. It's great to know that someone cares enough to give students free lessons. ""The time I spent with the karate class made me feel great to learn something new just taking 2 classes. Showing us how to be respectful to our family, friends and teachers."" I think that these classes are extraordinary I have learned more discipline, focus, respect, and responsibility. Pros: Great Public Service at No Charge more

Great For Self Defense 8/3/2006

I recently attended a Women's Defense seminar at Joe Corley Karate and was able to learn directly from Mr. Corley. He and his instructors were really sensitive, practical and positive in the way they treated us. My previous karate experience in a ""traditional"" school felt much more ""controlling"" than what I experienced here and much less practical. The open-minded, common sense approaches to women's specific self defense needs really made a big impresssion on me. My sincerest thanks to Mr. Corley and his staff for an inspiring, empowering day! more
