We were going to get our cat fixed, and were referred to Dr. Wathen by an acquaintance. We called, and everything sounded good, and the price was very reasonable, $25 total.
We took our cat in, and the office looked nice, it was very small, but the staff was real friendly and helpful. The doctor took our cat, and put him in a small metal cage with no pillow or litter box. They were doing the surgery the next morning, and the doctor told me what time I could pick him up. He answered all my questions, and was quite friendly.
The next day, the receptionist called to let us know that the surgery had went fine, and our cat would be ready to go home in a few hours. When we arrived at the vet that afternoon, they put our cat in a carrier, and handed him to me. They gave me directions on taking care of him, and I paid the bill.
While we were driving home, we noticed that the cat smelled very bad. We thought that he had peed in the carrier. When we got him home, and too him out of the carrier, we could see that he had dried pee all over him. I had no choice but to give him a bath. It took three baths to get most of the smell off of him. We regularly bathe our cat, so he was somewhat use to it, and since he was still sedated, he was very cooperative. When I was finished with the third bath, I thought he still smelled somewhat, but I didn't have the heart to put him through another lathering. When he dried, he smelled pretty good.
Our cat was still groggy the next day, but now, over a month later, he is fine and running around.
We have since taken our dog to the clinic to receive her shots, but I am not sure that I would take an animal there for surgery again. I am not sure why there was no litter box or pillow for the cats in the cage. I wish the cat would have been cleaned up some before sending him home.
