I was a customer at At the Beach previously and had a bad experience so I should have known better than to go back. It had been about 5 years and I figured everyone deserves a second chance. They had just opened the Yukon store and it was near my house. I liked the idea that they had late hours, so I tried it again. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER!
I signed up, fulfilled my 12 month contract. On the 13th month my debit card they had on file expired and I wasn't aware so when they tried to draft my account it didn't go through. When I went to the Yukon store to tan the assistant manager proceeded to tell me I had ""insufficient funds."" I beg your pardon....NEVER! Nor do you know me well enough to tell me that. After some investigation we figured it out. I called the next day, paid it over the phone and straightened it all out. I gave the girl on the phone my new card # and she told me everything was fine. I apologized for the negligence on my part, and we were good. SO I THOUGHT....
The next month I recieved a notice in the mail saying my payment was due soon. I tried to call customer service to see what was going on and waited on hold for 15 minutes before finally hanging up. I went to the Yukon store that night, told the manager what was going on, she verified my card # and told me everything was fine, it was going to draft, no worries.
The next day my payment was supposed to draft, but it wasn't showing on my bank account. I went to the Yukon store that night, verified with the assistant manager again and she said, ""Sometimes it takes a day or two to show up on you bank account, don't worry about it."" NEXT DAY...I get a phone call from customer service, my payment is past due. I march straight to the Yukon store, the girl gets customer service on the phone, they say At the Beach computer and their computer didn't connect for some reason so my payment didn't come out. I say, just cancel my account, I'm done dealing with it. They say they can't because I didn't cancel 10 days before my draft. That is my draft that DIDN'T draft. So, finally I pay for another month, fill out the cancellation form to stop my account at the END of the month that I have just paid for. I go back in a week later to tan, and they have CLOSED my account.
So....this means I paid for the month of May on April 30th, I go in on May 9th to tan because my account is supposed to be open until May 24th (per Anna at the NW 39th location, I even saw it with my own eyes on 4/30 when I was in there to make the payment). I ask her what she's going to do about it, she says NOTHING, I would have to call customer service myself. That is, the customer service that doesn't answer the phone when real customers call, only employees. I told her forget it. I marched my butt across the street to my bank, filled out an form to get my money back and At the Beach can take a flying leap to you know where. This is one company I will make sure EVERYONE I know does NOT go to. They treat their customers like crap and I think you have to have the worst attitude ever to even qualify for a job there. Their employees are the rudest people I have ever encountered!
STEER CLEAR OF AT THE BEACH unless you like being taken advantage of!!!!!!!!!!!
