Everyone in Los Angeles has heard things about this theatre. Yes, it is bourgeoisie, but...
When I went to see "Cinema Paradiso: The Director's Cut" and "Amadeus: The Director's Cut", I *wanted* to be in the hushed, black-box, child-free setting of the Arclight. It was well worth it. "Minority Report" in the Cinerama Dome was something I'll remember forever.
With special series featuring admission to a film and a discussion with a key player like a director, writer or actor, it brings the film school to the movie theatre. A refreshing idea.
It's not a theatre for every day, (Unless, of course, you've got $$$ like an "S" name: _pielberg, _oderbergh) but if a Director's Cut comes along, of a movie you worship--go for it. If "Citizen Kane" rolls, you can bet I'll be there.
It kind of puts the fun back in moviegoing, which had become slightly homogenized.
Pros: Great atmosphere, Gr8 parking, restrms, Cafe, Bar, Giftshop
Cons: Overpriced concession, $14 bucks a pop?!
