In conjunction with my review of Early Options, I had to write the review for Park Med.
After having the aspiration procedure done in 2006 at Early Options, I strongly suggested my friend opt for this procedure.
November 2011:
She rushed and just picked this place because it was close to her office and accepted her insurance.
Lets start with scheduling: They were horribly unprofessional and abrasive on the phone. My friend just started a new job so there was no way she could call during business hours. I'm glad I called because she was a wreck. The receptionist was horrible and handling an appointment was a challenge. She was rude and kept shouting ""PLEASE HOLD"" and then I would just be left in the middle of a word after she asked me a question.
Fast forward to appointment. at 11am, the waiting room was already packed to the limits with at least 40-50 people. Every chair was filled and there were people sitting in the hallway.
It was DEFINITELY a clinic setting.
People were loud, there is absolutely NO sense of privacy or discretion. When they shout out your name to come up to the counter, every person in the room watches you and can hear every word. Then you have to walk back facing those same 40-50 people which include men, women and children, and the teenage guy taking photos with his iPhone
Four hours later and my friend was turned away because they said she was too early for the procedure, even though she was at 5 weeks. We went over this on the phone with the receptionist and they said ""no problem - come in."" We didn't realize the potential problem until we arrived and they barked at us ""didn't they tell you this on the phone?"" We said no - and considering we both spoke to the receptionist on different occasions, we knew they never gave us the details
As we left, the waiting room was even more crowded, the hallway was packed all the way back to the elavators and people were everywhere on their cell phones (including in the waiting room the entire four hours we waited).
One teenage guy was taking photos from his iPhone and I finally had to tell him to stop taking photos. Come on - THIS IS PRIVATE!
My friend had to go back for two subsequent visits.
On the second visit, the staff literally LOST HER CHART in the middle of a shift change and told her they couldn't help her. Um - that's not too comforting that personal information is lost with all of those people around. It was crazy - they wanted her to wait more because THEY misplaced a medical chart? That turned into another 3 hour visit with no results
Visit third visit FINALLY resulted in the termination with a total time of 3. 5 more hours.
Don't go if you can avoid it. My friend finally ended up calling the medical director to vent her frustration and said it was the worst experience of her life because of the chaos in the office and lack of privacy.
Horrible, Horrible experience for both my friend (the patient) and me as the person who went for moral support.
