I have a phobia of dentist and have not visited one in a long time. Recent problem with my teeth lead me to visit Aspen Dental. I am so glad i did. Staff is very friendly, everything is out in the open as far as the charges goes. I can definitely say it was the best experience I could ever hope for. Aspen Dental has always given me wonderful service they all are a great bunch of caring people. Luann my dental hygienist always has my best interest at heart. she is an asset to the company she is very gentle and always accomodating.. I recently completed some dental work at Aspen Dental in North Syracuse, NY. I was hesitant at first about going to a "chain" dental place. I must say I was very pleased with the end result. The staff was professional, friendly, informed, concerned and caring from the first day on. Everyone was committed to making sure that I had the best care possible. I can't thank Dr. Greg Herman enough for his expertise, patience, and concern. He and his assistant (Laurie) stuck with me until I was completely satisfied. Everyone including the front desk staff, office manager, billing person - down to the person who cleaned my teeth was top notch. I knew I had some issues with two teeth, both broken. Pain was awful. I made an appointment at the Northern Lights office and was greeted immediately by friendly staff. I saw Dr. Herman who was very nice and described himself as being very conservative with treatment. I had to have one tooth extracted and I was able to come back 2 hours later to have it done the same day. Dr. Herman did a great job. I had no problems understanding the charges for the plan for care I needed and I know that the charges were average for the work . The office does have financing and will file the insurance for you. It also offers some discounts and if you don't have insurance, it will give you a free evaluation. I broke a tooth and Aspen was just so accomodating - at first I thought they were great. Until I go there. Well they found so many things wrong with my teeth that they wouldnt even talk about the broken tooth, and when you go to see how much everything is going to cost they bring this page with 9000 worth of dental work. I walked out and went to a very nice dentist (who puts his name on his practice) and yes I needed a crown that cost 1000 but other than that I only needed on filling and that was it. Aspen will give you their credit plan and make sure you spend it - even if you dont need the work. And they are not even nice about it, they couldnt even tell me which tooth was a baby tooth - I got 2 different answers. Very very bad place to go, I will never go back. And now I am waiting for a refund of what they overcharged me, because they do make sure you pay more than you have to just in case insurance doesnt pay it all. I have been told by very reputable dental agencies to stay away from Aspen. My sister went there because she had no insurance and they offered her a payment plan. They were rough with her and treated her poorly. They charged well above what they promised and their work was inferior. This place is not a substitute for a real dentist's office and seems to cater to those who need payment plans or who believe they are getting some sort of deal. My father also went there and was treated very poorly, to the point where I had to step in (he is 79) and tell the dentist that my dad deserves some respect and to stop being so rough with my him. The dentist also talked about my dad but not TO him which angered my father and me. He was too busy flirting with me to pay attention to his patient. My suggestion: Stay very far away from Aspen. They use bait and switch tactics and they treat you like you're getting their services for free, which you most certainly are not. PROS: Offer payment plan more
