For years I had been terrified of going to the dentist due to a horrible experience. After 13 years of staying away, I was forced to go. I brought a security sweatshirt and headphones to help me cope. Come to find out, neither were needed. Katelyn was fan-freaking-tastic! On day 2 of my procedures, I brought no coping items. She was gentle, considerate and communicative. I am no longer terrified of the dentist. Aspen Portsmouth was terrific from helping with payment options, scheduling appointments and making a scared chick feel right at home. Thank you all - you are a testament to what a 'bedside manner' should be. more

Highly recommended. I went into Aspen with the same screwed up smile I had nearly my whole life. I left knowing that I was in good hands that my smile would soon be fully restored. I am over half way through my treatment and I already feel so much better about myself. I was nervous about how I would pay and everything, but they have monthly payment plans- which was a huge stress-relief. I continually tell my friends and family about this office, the staff is awesome and they are so caring and understanding. Also, very professional! more

I thought this office was very friendly, and a great experience for a dental office. I had a great visit here from beginning to end. The receptionist at the front desk were very friendly and helpful while filling out paperwork. I then had xrays taken which were not nearly as uncomfortable as usual, and the assistant was very quick. The female doctor I saw was very nice and explained all treatment very throughly. I was nervous about my final cost of treatment but they made it very affordable and made it simple to take one thing at a time. I would highly recommend this office to anyone, and encourage people to go to this office to take care of your dental needs. Great Job!! more

OMG do not go here! I went last week because I needed to redo my filling... They were the only one in the area covered by insurance. I didn t have to wait long time but when dentist came to do exam and told me all the things I left that place crying. He told me I have first degree gum disease, that they need to do surgery on my two wisdom teeth and I need to get crown because filling won t work. After that thy presented me estimated bill and it was for $2,000.00 . I just left the place and cried in my car thinking I will wake up next morning with no teeth in my mouth. Then I got home read all these reviews and figure out that they probably say this to every patient. I went to see other doctor, he said my teeth were fine (in my 24 years i never ever had one major problem with my teeth) and he replaced filling and insurance covered everything. He also told me that he saw hundreds of people coming to him saying terrible experiences about Aspen Dental. So, do not go there, rather drive to other dental practice then seeing these people. Do not step foot inside Aspen Dental 2/7/2012

I wish I had read these reviews before I went to Aspen Dental. At first it seemed like a good choice. It was conveniently located, and it was very easy to set up an appointment. However, going there was one of the worst decisions that I have ever made. They go out of their way to find problems with your teeth, that may or may not exist or be a true problem, and then do a poor job of performing procedures. I went there to get a cavity filled, thinking that any dentist should be able to competently fill a cavity, and now I need a root canal because the dentist cracked my tooth while filling the cavity. As if that weren't enough, they lost my chart, meaning that I will have to pay for additional x-rays at my new dentist, and that my personal information, including my SSN could be in the hands of anyone. Needless to say, I will never return to any Aspen Dental, and I can only hope that other people will not make the same mistake of trusting them that I did. more

Park Young Chan DDS was one of the worst Dentist I had. The crown he did broke within 6 months and he would not replace it. And that crown was needed due to his negligence in the first place. So if you want to lose your healthy teeth then go to Park Young Chan DDS and Aspen Dental. They will destroy your teeth so they can line thier pockets with your insurance money. more

Mr. CHAN IS GREEDY DENTIST 5/21/2011

Park Young Chan DDS was one of the worst Dentist I had. The 9 VENEERS/FILLINGS he did (in 45 minutes and over $1000.00 charge) fell out within 6 months. He would not replace, Aspen Dental Corpriate In NY did NOTHING-BBB did nothing. I ended up paying another dentist to REPAIR the damage done by Park Young Chan DDS. Avoid Mr. Chan and Aspen Dental- THEY ARE A CHOP SUEY SHOP. more

excellent 2/6/2011

Very good experience. They are excellent dentists and excellent staff. I was glad they told me I had gum disease instead of other dentist that just gave be a regular cleaning. It was comforting to know that they actually probed my gums to find pockets instead of just assuming I was fine without checking. I had no problem with xrays being taken, id rather know what is on the x ray then risk not having any done like other dentist that never take a full mouth series. They are by the book and up to date with the ADA. more

Aspen needs to be shut down 1/20/2011

My daughter had her wisdoms pulled. they charged me $500.00. I received itemized billing from my Ins. Co. i know what they charge them and what they get paid. they told me they would charge me dental but i have to submit to my reg, ins. because it is a surgical procedure and they do not bill to reg. medical ins. Well I got my statements and not only did they bill my ins. they billed my dental and charged me. They where over paid by. $500.00. I called to get a refund and got the run around. So, I called the BBB. I got my refund. One year later they billed me againg for $500.00. I called the BBB again. They bills stopped and I received a leter from corp. in NY which I am keep just in case. They lie, they cheet, they scam. Forget their customerservice. Go straight for the BBB. They will eventually shut them down. more

dental flaws 9/3/2010

Stay away from aspen dental - run for your life. Right now I am trying to help a young women who had a root canal last week. She has been in the hospital (admitted) with raging abcessess - apparently the drain was in the wrong place. Go online and look up aspen dental- I can't imagine any honest, talented dentist would sign on with this outfit- If only this poor single mom had gone somewhere else. She went back to them several times before she got to this state and they didn't give her the help she required- more

STAY AWAY from ASPEN DENTAL 1/30/2010

DO not go there. I have GEHA and Aspen dental was the only in provider network dentist I could fine in 50 miles that takes new patient. On the outside the place looks nice and professional. But after that everything gets worst. They make me do a FULL mouth x-ray (else dentist wont see me). This is completely unnecessary for pre-screening. They had some HS looking girl do didnt even put the film in the right place and doesnt seem to know what she's doing. The dentist came to see me and looks like she just graduated from dentist school. I also noticed all the nurses/assistant look like they are from hs or freshmen in college. \r \r They would not let me have a cleaning on the same day.they said I have gum disease (I was shock) and said I need a STML cleaning that costs $300 (half comes from my pocket). I said I just want the regular cleaning that my insurance cover, but they said they cannot give me a regular cleaning, because that wasn't what the doctor diagnosised. I wasnt sure what they more

I have been to Aspen Dental twice now, and have had positive experiences both times. I have to admit that I was very skeptical of going to a franchise-type dentist office, having always gone to private practices my whole life, but I had a really good experience at Aspen. Very friendly service. It was so refreshing to sit down with someone and be told what the cost of future work would be before having it done. They've taken good care of me so far, and my wife also goes there and has had really positive experiences. more

Aspen Dental is A F$$CKING SCAM 12/23/2009

I made the mistake of going to Aspen Dental. First they refused to do a cleaning the same day as the exam. They took a full set of full mouth x-rays and an exam. I sat in front a poster warning me of the threat of periodontitis and when the dentist came in guess what? I had a mild case of periodontitis! The "dentist" couldn?t tell me anything more other than it was going to be expensive. She spent less than five minutes with me for a $70.00 exam. Next I went to speak with a payment consultant. Like you, I had never had this happen at a dentist before. She tells me that I need $1760 worth of work done. I tell her I want something explaining how she got this number. She gave the run around and wouldn?t answer. I made an appointment for the work but wasn?t sure if I was going to keep it or not. Then my husband tells me on the way home that he got a weird impression of the place too. I called back the next day to tell this woman I want an itemized description of the $1,700.00 and more

These are not good dentists 8/12/2009

I don't have a single good thing to say about this corporation, or it's entities. I'm guessing this is where the dentists who are at the bottom of the role in college end up. Appts for 5 pm, seen at 6:45. Miserable use of Novocaine. Fillings that fall out. A billing dept from Hades. Run! Pros: None Cons: Bad time management. Bad dentists. Bad billing. more
