Awful, awful, awful! Yes, the public areas are nicely furnished and maintained, the food is decent, the activities are alright, and some of the staff (bus driver) are pleasant and friendly. HOWEVER...the positives end there. I agree with the previous reviewer regarding the staff's inability to deal with patients with dementia. This is an assisted living facility; you're going to be working with elderly and should therefore be well-informed as to how to handle certain situations as a result. Rooms are always filthy despite housekeeping being included in the rate...dust on everything, roaches everywhere, smelly soiled clothes left unwashed. Call with a question or complaint for the executive director and be prepared to be treated like garbage. I've never been so insulted or disrespected in my life! I also couldn't tell you how many times I've stood at the front desk when a call has come in and the receptionist will ask the staff member if they want to talk to a specific person, then hear them pop back on the line and say they're unavailable and can only leave a voicemail (which takes WEEKS for a return phone call!). If you're looking for a place to throw away $4000/mo for filthy rooms and disrespectful management who will milk you for every additional penny, this place is a winner. If you're looking for a place to take care of your loved one in a clean and friendly environment, and treat you with dignity please look elsewhere. more

Supporting Seniors with Dignity 1/6/2011

I have been working in Senior Living for over a decade and Ashford Court has impressed me far above other senior communities I have been affiliated with. The staff works tirelessly with the residents and families to ensure the best care. Most of the new people coming to take residency do so because they received the referral of a current resident and their family! Word of mouth advertising speaks for itself. I have seen first hand the way the managers professionally handle difficult situations for quick resolve. The smiling faces of the resident's tell the complete story! I am proud of this amazing community and it's endeavour to be the best! more

not good 12/15/2010

My mother has lived at this facility for a couple of years now. The facility is in a nice area and the furnishings are beautiful. The full time nursing care is non-existent. There is a nurse who works during the week, otherwise there are CNA's some of whom are helpful others who are not. My mom can be (well is) difficult but you expect some older people to be that way especially those with dementia. The staff should be well equipped to deal with ""difficult people"". They are not. The director is a joke. Her room was always filthy when I went there. She has incontinence problems but was paying an additional amount for that service. The staff informed me that she would not let them clean. Again, they should be able to find ways around this especially when someone is paying almost $4000.00 per month. Her bed was rarely made. No sheets on bed most of the time. They had to move her from room with carpet to another room with laminate flooring. They charged 2300 for this move next door. Our family did most of the moving. There were cockroaches everywhere. We had to wash all her clothing, buy a new mattress, throw out her furniture etc...... I do not want her to live with me because she is so difficult but they are suppose to be the ""experts"" in dealing with residents who are elderly etc..... For the money you could rent an apartment and a live in home companion and probably do a lot better. more

The staff is congenial and very helpful. The previous director of nursing took a greater interest in patients and provided better care. Pros: eating accom. , flexibility, onsite psych care Cons: huge staff turnover more
