Incroyable Turkish Cosmopolitan 1/15/2010

The concept is Middle Eastern, but with a cosmopolitan air. Lamb and veal, traditional in this part of the world, are succulent and savory and especially good with the delicious yogurt sauces. We plan to return many times and to try everything on the menu. and we WILL return. Our waitress was a little mad, (as in loony) and we loved her. When she found out my wife is from Hamburg, she sent over a waiter who spoke exquisite German, with absolutely no American accent, as he'd been there as a boy, and had even been in a few films, including Heidi. When the party at the next table mentioned it was the birthday of someone in their group, out came an excellent guitar player/singer with a jazzoid version of the Beatles song (""You Say It's Your Birthday""). The desert table was amazing. Tier after tier of incredible concoctions, sauces, flan, creme, mousse, and each desert was only a dollar. Ok, I can think of one negative thing: I believe the Cappucino was instant. It seemed highly unlikely, so maybe I was wrong. Next time I'll ask forTurkish coffee, Pros: Service, decor, imaginative cuisine, delicious, affordable Cons: It's 1.5 hours away from Wytheville, VA more

Great food great service 3/2/2009

Went to arzu and had a wonderful experience. The service was perfect, friendly, and unobtrusive. I had the filet oscar, a perfectly cooked filet mignon topped with seasoned lump crabmeat, asparagus and brocolli finished with delicious bernaise sauce. For dessert I had chocolate mousse pie wich was one of the best desserts I've ever had. Overall I give this restaurant an honest 5 out of 5. more

Get The Yogurt Kebob !(its amazing)! 1/20/2009

Highly enjoyed my experience at Arzu! our server was friendly and extremely knowledgeable. my wife asked him about 40 questions and he answered them all without seeming the slightest bit annoyed. our drinks were strong, our appetizer was perfect,we had the shitake and oyster mushrooms served in the most delicious brown sauce ive ever had and over puff pastry. if you go, i highly recommend the yogurt kebob, one of the turkish selections, it was tender loin of lamb sliced thin and served over homemade yogurt with diced pita bread marinated in a bit of some kind of red sauce. my mouth is watering just thinking about it! i skipped dessert but my wife had the chocolate mousse cake and loved it. anyway i could go on and on but if your in roanoke Arzu is certainly worth the trip!! Pros: convenient free city parking right beside the restaurant, great service Cons: the delicious turkish coffee will keep you up all night more

Okay dinner, great dessert, BAD SERVICE 8/25/2006

Our entrees were okay. Nothing to write home to mom about. Dessert was fantastic! You MUST try their flan. If the restaurant is good for nothing else, I will be going back if only for the tight, creamy vanilla flan. The service, on the other hand, was horrible. Our waitress insisted on butting into the conversation all night. Not only that, but our son eventually fell asleep in his portable car seat and she proceeded to physically wake him up!! Who wakes a sleeping baby? After he was rudely woken, he was very upset and began a complete meltdown. Thank you useless waitress. In conclusion - call ahead and get the flan to go. Pros: The flan. Cons: The service!!!! more
