My air conditioner broke. I carpool to Palo Alto from the East Bay, so this was unacceptable. Art spoke to me on the phone for quite some time, walking me through the details of various levels of broken-ness. I much appreciated this. His staff was very friendly, and they appear to be very ethical. Oh, and they fixed my car well. I highly recommend these folks. more

Honest Reliable Auto Repair 8/15/2005

Yes, it's hard to imagine. They're an auto repair shop. They'll fix your car. And they won't lie to you. Nor will they cheat you. Nor will they tell you your "muffler bearings" need replacing.. They'll probably take the time to explain the problem, in as much detail as you want, explain your options. Then they fix it promptly. The only other place I'd even consider taking my car is Berkeley Mini-car, but they only work on Honda's. more

Best car repair ever 3/25/2005

These guys are amazing. Most car repair places make me feel as if I'm being screwed, but Art's is scrupulously honest and has built a huge clientele among the Berkeley set. They'll give it to you straight, even telling you when it might be better to scrap the car rather than let them repair it. I can't say enough good things about these folks, and everyone I know has a similar opinion. more
