Discriminated Toward and Priority Treatment Toward Better Customers 6/1/2011

I was originally a very frequent customer at first until I was insulted because of my sexuality. I called and spoke to the manager and he said he would look into it and get back to me. I never heard from him again. Then recently I was attending an event and spoke out about how I was stolen by a customer he knows. They wanted to banned me for slander even though I had evidence that I was stolen from and showed them. The other person that stole from me was an older and better customer than me and I have seen him in there several times before. While I personally don't know either the person that stole from me or the manager, if you ask me it has nothing to do with what happened it has to due with who spends more money at there store and what I do in my private life. Very bad experiences. more

Family fun, geeky yes, but very helpful staff 2/6/2007

This store rocks. It's like walking into an old time mom and pop store where the owners and family run the store. They really care about your needs whether it's comics, gaming, or CCG tournaments. The owner, Jim, really knows his stuff, in fact, there isn't alot you can't ask this former Bio-Physicist turned Comic and gaming guru. Saturdays are where its at and the store can become really crowded and has a real energetic buzz in the air from the kids to the adults playing in the tourneys. Wednesdays, new comic days are fantastic, with Jim, Marina, Kelly, Nick and Bryan working hard to make sure all the pulls are ready for the regular customers and that all questions are answered for the new customers. The best thing about this store is they aren't after your money, they want your business, and definitely want you to come back. They will give you an honest answer and you don't come by that kind of honesty in this day and age. This store has recently expanded to accomodate the crowded Weekend sessions and I am sure that the Comic crowd will welcome this space too. If you really want to check out the flavor of an old time San Diego Comic Store since 1974, you should check out the conveniently located Artifex Entertainment off the 15 freeway. They really are friendly, and will tell you where to get what you are looking for if they do not have it. How's that for service? !!!! more

Decent Shop 8/20/2005

Artifex has something for everyone. If you enjoy san diego's comicon convention, this is your store. They carry endless comic books, rare old to newer ones, but you're bound to find something you enjoy here. they buy used games andconsoles so you can get rid of stuff around the house which is great. They always have card game tournaments which fill the store with fans. Everything they offer is at a decent price but the store is somewhat small and messy. more

good place for comics and cards 8/20/2005

Artifex is a pretty good place for buying comics, cards, and other collectables. They hold nerdy Magic / Pokemon card tournaments every few days, that's one downside. Their prices are generally reasonable on most things, if you want to buy a bunch of comics monthly they will hold those aside for you and you can come in every month and pick up your order. Overall a good store, just a little too nerdy in my opinion. more
