My feeling as I came for my first few lessons was mostly fear. Fear of not being able to learn the dances, of stepping on someone's toes, and of embarrassing myself and my wife somehow. I was worried I could not learn ""fancy"" dance steps because I have basically zero dance abilities, except for an occasional twist, or bump, or bunny hop at a wedding. Well, I was relieved to find that after two or three lessons my fears dissipated. I thank the instructors for that. In our private lessons our instructor, Shawna, is an expert in teaching very basic dance moves to beginners. She was very kind and supportive throughout and made the lessons fun. Secondly, in our group lessons I found out quickly that almost everyone there was a beginner just like me; and the lessons are taught at a slow, simple pace that everyone in class can catch on to. Like me, many people were making small mistakes and no one really even noticed. After all, we're beginners and mistakes are a part of learning something new. I found that it just takes practice to get the steps right. The instructors and teaching methods were supportive and geared to the beginner dancer. Thanks Drew(he taught most of the group classes). \r Another experience I have had at Arthur Murray was gaining an enjoyment of dancing. I came as a courtesy to my wife and did not really expect to have much fun at it. It was for her after all. I was just tagging along because I'm the husband; it's my job. I was surprised that when I loosened up a bit and tried to have fun, I had a great time. I met some new people, laughed a lot and kept on trying my dance steps.. I'm still not very good, but I'm getting better and having fun just dancing with my wife. After these experiences, I have recommended Arthur Murray to friends and family. It's actually fun! \r So, in summary, my advice is to laugh, have a good time, keep trying and the steps will come, and listen to the instructors. They've taught a lot of beginners like me. \r Thank you to all the dance instructors at Arthur Murray in Costa Mesa for a great experience in dancing. more

Arthur Murray Dance Studio (San Diego) is a fantastic place!! I walked in the door a terrified, complete beginner and was immediately embraced by a very warm and supportive group of instructors! With great patience and support, they have taught me a TON about dancing, and there are moments when even I begin to think that I'm becoming a pretty good social dancer. From afraid of the dance floor to participating in dance competitions, it has been a very sweet journey! more

The Arthur Murray San Diego Dance Studios teaching is on a scholastic basis, and degrees of dancing achieved are varied. Instruction progresses through: Student Introductory & Variety Programs, and Associate or Full Programs in Bronze, Silver, Gold, Gold Bar and Gold Star Standards. This system is called the Medalist System and is used worldwide. Courses are designed for people desiring instruction in either Social or Competition Styles. Additionally, we utilize a comparative style of teaching called the Arthur Murray Method, which enables students to learn the skills needed for dancing (not just steps) in the most efficient way possible. Our goal is to help you get out on the floor and experience a ballroom dancing lesson, wedding dance lesson or private dance lesson as soon as possible more

My boyfriend and I originally had a groupon (about $65) to come here. We're always up for trying new things and decided that this would be fun because it's out of our comfort zone, and we wouldn't have done it otherwise. more

The Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Rocklin is an awesome place to dance at! So much energy and awesome people! more

Editorial review from Citysearch 4/10/2013

I am dancing a Viennese Waltz routine this Sunday at a Spotlight Party event with the combined two studios of Rocklin and Carmichael. They are fun and about every 3 months we get together to dance socially in these formal events, dance competitively, perform showcase routines that we work on and watch pro-shows. I promise you these pros look a lot better than what you see when you are watching dancing with the stars and only one of the dancers is a pro. Breathtaking and inspiring dances. For a guy who used to hide out in the corner of the dance floor if I had to get on it at all I have come a long ways and never in my wildest of dreams would I have ever thought that I would be dancing a Viennese Waltz routine and loving it. I hope to move on and be silver in V. Waltz some day and see that it really could happen. more

My husband and I have taken lessons here for six years. The teachers are all fabulous! They are awesome dancers and are more than willing to work with beginners as well as advanced dancers. The studio teaches 30 some dances, and it was so much fun to finally recognize moves on Dancing with the Stars that we had learned! Young or old, fit or not, everyone can dance and I highly recommend the staff at the Arthur Murray!! more

I have been going to Arthur Murray's studio in Carmichael for about 2 years now and for the past few months to their sister studio (same owner and staff) in Rocklin. There are lots of group classes that are free if you are in a program so the price can be very affordable. Private lessons are not cheap. Why would they be? They are taught by some really awesome professionals and those people aren't drop in self-taught instructors like you might get at an aerobics class at your gym. You are getting the quality you pay for. If you do strictly private one on one lessons it is pricey...if you take advantage of the group classes a lot it is inexpensive.\r I have taken myself from someone who would avoid dance events and only dance with my wife in a dark crowded corner on the last note or two of a song to someone who looks forward to dance events, dance competitions, am part of a dance cast seen by thousands of people and that finds dancing is now one of the biggest passions of my life. Imagine what it was like for me to go from being ashamed of my total lack of dance skills to feeling like I am king of the world as I am on the dance floor with my wife. That is what is available for people at this studio. I find that the confidence that I gained in dancing has translated itself to more confidence in what I do in the rest of my life....both socially and for a living.\r The staff and the students are very supportive of one another. It is a very safe place, and given the size of the studio and the staff there is a lot of structured events so it is an opportunity for fun socially. There are a lot of students that have been doing this for a lot longer than me so they must be doing something right and for a long time too. Really great to not only watch yourself progress but those around you too. The Silver level students are really amazing.....makes you want to go oooh and ahhh and say I want to be that. This is a studio for people wanting a quick fix for a wedding dance or other event and for people who really want to take dancing seriously as well. more

I am getting married soon and have never really learned to dance. The thought of it was ruining the vision of my wedding. I called Arthur Murray and scheduled a free lesson and then signed up for an 8 lesson package.\r I am so glad that I did. In a very short time I gained the knowledge and experience that makes the thought of dancing at my wedding a positive rather than a negative. The instructors gave lots of friendly encouragement and helpful tips. Kudos to person training and hiring the staff, the instructors are so positive and skilled at starting you off at a level you can handle and then working in new steps when you are ready. I have never heard one negative comment from any of the staff. This is the biggest compliment I can give them. more
