\r \r My review ""I will return"" 1/2011 updated.\r I and my friends have been many times now and my belief in the adage ""First impressions are the best Impressions"" has proved beyond a doubt to be true. My criteria of Freshness, Cleanliness & Presentation all pass with top marks. Quality of our meal, top of the list. Steaks, chicken, fish, pastas all are so tasty, excellent. Also for the very pleasant ambiance enhance by our waiter whom we seem to get most times, Mr Nacho. He is, as all are there, remarkably knowledgeable, from the way the meal is cooked to the ingredients and for his choice of wines. All staff are very attentive. The Executive Chef is the owner and a very pleasant fellow to, if you want something not on the menu do not be afraid to ask. I have been to many other places for a Steak, even Hortons at three times the price and wished I had gone here instead. This is without a doubt my favorite Italian Restaurant in Los Angeles.\r \r Phone before hand & book a table as the busy time's you will have a long wait.\r Don’t judge the place from out side. Its like “don’t judge a book by the cover”. Go in, you will like it. more

I will return. 1/19/2011

On the recommendation of friends we have been there twice now and believing in the adage, 1st impressions are the best. We like this place. For the freshness and quality of our meal, top of the list. Our 2 different steaks, excellent. For the very pleasant ambiance which was enhance by our waiter on both occasions. Our waiter was remarkably knowledgeable, from the way it was cooked to the ingredients. For his choice of wine. All there are very attentive. Next time I go will add our waiters name to this. Cons. Just don’t judge the place from out side. Its like “don’t judge a book by the cover”. Go in, you will like it. more

Silver Lake Italian 8/16/2010

Aroma ... the exterior is no reflection of the delightful inside. A small well done casual place with a tough of class. The food is Italian home cooking like you haven't tasted. Every dish is just a flavorful experience and love is infused in each plate. Probably some of the best gnocchi ever and a solid selection of wine. The specials were incredible and all four of us were raving about the evening! Enjoy! more

Scrumptious Italian in Silverlake! 4/29/2010

Been going to Aroma for a few years now and had to finally sit down and write a well deserved review. We go there when we are celebrating and get all dressed up AND we go there when we just want to have a delicious dinner out. Once your inside the mimi-mall fades away quickly. There menu is big (so you can get a good classical Italian dish any time) and they always have a bunch of specials to add to your choices. These are usually so melt in your mouth delish! I've never had room for dessert so I have no idea how that is, but I can tell you all the apps and mains are terrific. Also the staff is friendly, attentive (with an understanding of timing and when to approach the table) and it's obvious that they love the food too... they are no fools. Do yourself a favor and GO to this delicious gourmet Italian restaurant. Pros: food is consistently excellent, good affordable wine list Cons: yes... it's in a mimi-mall... but you'll get over it more

good food, but won't return 8/30/2009

Food was good, but the brusk, cranky waitresses i can do without. I had a bill of $21.00 and left $40 in the folder and was asked if needed change when i clearly left the folder open and the waitress was visually upset cause she wanted the whole thing. Is she nuts. change was returned but i won't. skip this joint. looks nice from the outside but the true worth is how they treat you. Pros: good dishes Cons: terrible cranky staff more

A must try! 5/26/2009

Enjoyable dinner! 4/3/2009

My husband and I just returned from our first dinner at Aroma. Wonderful! The restaurant has a cozy dining room, and an excellent and friendly staff. We called ahead to book a table, which helped us avoid a 45 minute wait. Ask for a table in the dining room as opposed to a table next to the kitchen. Wide variety of specials, and the food was really good and flavorful. The restaurant is in a strip mall on Sunset, but don't let that influence you. Aroma is definitely worth trying! Pros: Nice menu selection, excellent service, great food Cons: Wine menu does not list wine by the glass (which is offered) more

the best ! 2/21/2009

Best Italian food in LA! 7/11/2008

I have to start this by saying that I have never reviewed a restaurant. This restaurant is so amazingly good that I had to say something about it. If you are looking for quality Italian food this is the place to try. You will never believe that a restaurant in such a random strip mall can be this good but it is. As everyone has said the specials are the way to go and definitely try the flan! Pros: Everything on the menu. Cons: Nothing at all! more

good place to go 10/29/2007

The best little Italian restaurant in Los Angeles 9/23/2007

Excellent!! Everytime I go I usually order their specials and it's always great. Well last night was the best by far. Right now they have mozzarella that is flown in once a year, very tasty a must have while they have it. The lobster pasta was great and the quail was splendid. We shared it all and they will divide it for you too and they don't charge like those other restaurant. Those of you who haven't gone has to go at least once and you'll keep going back like we do. Oh and the owner is always there, you see them cooking in front of you (well on the side where you walk in). The place is small so the food is always cooked fresh! You can't beat that. Two of the waiters must have been there a long time (not sure how long) but they describe the food as if they had made it themselves. TRY IT. You'll be glad you did! and it's worth the drive if you're not in the neighborhood. It's in an outdoor shopping center so you may miss it. But don't let the exterior of the location change your mind because it's worth every bit!! The selection of wine is just as good, so you won't be disappointed in anyway except when it's crowded and you have to wait but you get to see all the food that goes out which may make your decision easier. ALWAYS ASK TO HEAR THE SPECIALS BEFORE LOOKING AT THE MENU. We usually don't look at the menu. I think we did twice of all the times we've gone. Oh and sometimes you can ask to make something special and they might be able to too. Pros: Food is awesome, the owner is always there, the servers are great unlike in those other city locations. A MUST try! Cons: none any changes could ruin the food and that's what we go for. more

Best secret of the UGLIEST strip mall ever!!! 6/29/2007

I live about 2-3 blokck from this place, and had biked/drove by w/my lady a number of times and we'd said things like ""what an ugly place"" ""geez, what a dumb name"" and a # of other derogatory things. Pros: seemingly unknown, GREAT service too! Cons: It's ugly, but so what? more

Best Italian in LA, especially the specials!!! 6/22/2007

One of the best restaurants in LA. The menu is great but don't make a decision until you've heard the specials. Once you've been there a few times and they recognize you there are even more specials they let you know about, and if they ever have the gnocci, order it. The best I've ever had. It's a great hidden treasure, with agreat food, service and an open kitchen so you can watch it all happen. Pros: great food, great service, quaint atmosphere Cons: could have a larger wine list, could have better bread, other than that it's perfect more

Better then any restaurant in Beverly Hills . .. 2/9/2007

I lived on the west side for many years and my fiance loves to eat. We use guides to tell us what's new, where to go to find a good meals. We moved to Los Feliz and kept doing our research, well, we came across Aroma, now we have a favorite restaurant. It use to be Hungry Cat, now Aroma is #1. And the bread . . .the variety of the specials and oh the service is great, you see them cooking right out in the open, nothing to hide. The owner is there too unlike a lot of other restaurants. It's small so you might want to check to see if you can get in. more

GOOD FOOD, BUT YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT. 2/4/2007

As everyone says, the food is quite good. For some reason they haven't gotten it together in regard to setting up reservations. Last night we waited 45 minutes beyond our reservation time. The visit before that an hour. I think most people do not sit down at their reserved time. Waiting for this restaurant requires you either wait in the restaurant's small waiting area, or outside in the strip mall where you can sit on a cold tile ledge. more

Good Job Guy's. !!! 1/30/2007

Few days ago, I did enjoy the best food and service in town, well manered.- < 01-28-07> Fresh foor, friendly service and well manered. Pros: What a ambience, exelent eh. !! Romantic, Adult Wise eh. - Cons: Mr. Nacho. * Great Service Sir. * my best Recomendations. !!! more

Great service, great food! 11/20/2006

My husband & I decided to give this place a try, after reading the other positive reviews on CitySearch. We definitely were not disappointed! Your meal starts with complimentary bruschetta, followed by a basket of warm bread. We had the spinach ravioli and linguini and clams, both were fabulous! The service is GREAT and the food was really delicious. Don't let the outside appearances fool you (it's in a non-descript strip mall), it is small inside but very cozy and lovely. We'll be back! more
