This store has been around since 1951 and we've bought most of our furniture there since 1987. Arnolds seems sometimes to fight an image of being expensive, but we, too, have found wonderful bargains in the backroom, during sales, and by "cherry picking" as well as good follow-up service if we've needed furniture repaired due to wear and tear from our kids.
When we've needed something impossible to find ready-made, such as a crescent shaped rug to fit an odd-shaped area in our home, we've known that a decorator/designer at the store will be able to have it made.
My advice is to walk in with a budget and stick to it. Also, to enjoy getting lost in the meandering showrooms; you'll eventually find your way out.
Get a firm price for whatever you're purchasing or having made and installed. Ask about delivery charges, too. I was surprised to have to pay one for a short transport of furniture.
