Disappointed, as a 20 year customer of Armadale Farm Kennels, I am sad to write this review. While I consider their facilities to be appropriate, their policies and sloppiness have me concerned. Unlike any other kennel I have been in contact with, this business insists on a yearly heartworm test. Their reasoning is not out of concern for other animals, but because they insist on being the judge of the health of your animal. Of course, they offer the next door Armadale Animal Hospital to do the test...isn't that a convenient source of income for the neighboring business? Regardless of the fact that my reputable vet sent in paperwork to state that my pet was healthy and on heartworm prevention, they preferred to argue at length. OK...so the test was done. The vet from Armadale called and left a message to state that not only did they do the heartworm test (negative), but also administered the bordatella vaccines. My vet had clearly sent them paperwork stating that bordatella vaccine was administered 4 months earlier. When questioned, Armadale Hospital said, oops...no we didn't do the bordatella vaccine. The vet did do extra testing which I did not request and it showed a positive test for Canine Ehrlichiosis, which is often a false positive and not indicative of disease. At pickup time, the staff member at the kennel stated that the dog was heartworm positive. Wrong again. The test was negative. Between the confusion over what was done at the vet and their arrogance as to deciding which tests my dog needed, I was left with a feeling of distrust and disgust.
