This practice is a train wreck when it comes to billing practices.\r \r 1) They want you to pay up front before eye surgeries. They say it's based on an estimate from your insurance company. Even if they call your insurance company, the billing department is completely incapable of actually understanding how to properly get said estimate right.\r \r 2) Your actual bill will be three to four times the original estimate. You'd think they would have this figured out since this is the entirety of their job but no. \r \r 3) They will then claim your insurance company got the estimate wrong. It won't matter at this point. You'll have to pay the bill and what not. Rest assured, I had already contacted my insurance company and they properly gave them an estimate. The provider just didn't do the math after the fact. \r \r 4) You will wait, often and for long periods of time no matter how early or on time you show up for your appointments. There will be no apologies for this wait. They will not know if your kid will be dilated during the visit. Sometimes they will tell you that yes, this appointment will feature dilation so build in the time for that. Then dilation will not occur. Other times they will NOT tell you and you will have your kid's eyes dilated and you will be there forever without having planned accordingly.\r \r 5) If you bring up anything about their crazy billing procedures, they will act like you grew a second head. But one of the girls up front might confide in you that everyone complains about them. Good to know after the fact right? more

Funnies Peds Eye Doc! Ar Smart to boot. 5/6/2008

My daughter is 12 years old and has ""lazy eye"" in both eye. We started seeing Dr. Salevits when she was 5. She went through a very simple laer out-patient rocedure (not lasik) and she no longer has to where glasses. He did warn us of the possibility of her eye bcoming ""lazy"" again due to growth. Six years later she did have to undergo another outpatient procedure and we have had success each time. He is great with the kids and I wish he could be my eye doc too. Pros: Great doc, knowledgable, funny, great with kids Cons: Billing staff lacking knowledge, hard to get an appointment more
