Great Late Night Meal 3/22/2006

I have only been to this place once, but I am still looking for an excuse to go again. I am personally not a fan of oily pizza. At least not the sort of pizza you would find around Telegraph. Arinell's pizza surprised me when I had it late one night. The pizza pie was constructed over a nice thin crust (so great for the low-carb dieters) and the toppings were added in just the right amount to make everything come out wonderfully. The workers are nice and the place friendly. I would recommend it to anybody who ends up at the far corner of Shattuck. It is definitely worth a try. more

Excellent Crust 10/7/2005

I think Arinell's has been around for a very long time in Berkeley but I only recently tried it for the first time. I loved the pizza crust. I think most places can provide similar toppings but what makes it all come together is the sauce and the crust. I love the fact that the pizza is prepared piping hot - it was similar to my experience with NY pizzerias like Ray's Pizza. I think 2 slices would be necessary for the average male. more

Pretty close to NYC 8/7/2005

If you’re looking for a good (but not great) new york style pizza, then this is the place to go. Walking in, the ambiance right away has obvious hints of a small pizzeria on the east coast from the cramped quarters to the often times standing room only. The pizza is quite tasty, the slices are large, the crust crisp, and the sauce seems to be made fresh. Prices are quite low as well, but for some reason the cheese is missing something. Gripes aside, this pizza will satisfy most looking for a new york slice. more

Great Pizza 8/5/2005

Arinell Pizza. Located on Shattuck Avenue, theirs is the closest you'll get to real, thin-crust, New York-style pizza in Berkeley. The "fold factor"-the slice's ability to be folded over -convinced me that my days of deprivation were over. The slices are so thin and tasty that I can now eat as many slices as I used to back home . two . or five. And their pizza is made with no MSG or sugar, so even my diabetic grandmother can enjoy their savory slices. Arinell Pizza doesn't deliver, but if you want to get out of the Berkeley pizza bubble, its worth the trip. more
