Worst service I've ever had there! 11/2/2011

My aunt and I go there at least twice a month if not every week for Crab night at the buffet. We're known as the ""bib lady's"" because we bring our own bibs to eat crab. Last night was the worst all round night there. We valet parked and all the wheel chairs we left out in the rain and were soaking wet. Then we play and all their slot machines are so tight they have to be making a killing. Then we go to eat and 1/2 the buffet is closed down for remodeling. Problem is they STILL charged us full price but did not supply a full buffet. When we go to get the car it's pouring down rain and you have to stand in the elements to give them your ticket....there are 3 valet attendants inside the booth with the window closed while I'm standing in the rain waiting for one of the nim no's to open the window and take my ticket. As we finally get our car the attendant swings my driver door open and walks off w/o so much as a ""kiss my you know what"". He never went over to my aunts side to open hers and she's partially disabled. Needless to say there are other places we can eat for $70 (not counting the money we'd save on their looser slots). A total disappointment. more

DO NOT STAY HERE 11/19/2010

My sister was getting married and we had booked 2 rooms at the Argosy for the bachelorette party. When we arrived the lady told us that one of the rooms was booked for the wrong day and that they were full. The parking lot was almost empty and asked how could that be? And said that I had called 2 weeks ago and reserved these rooms and that it was not my fault if the guy that booked the rooms put it for the wrong days. He even read me the dates back to me. She said there was nothing they would do. She said she would ""talk"" to her manager came back and told us that she had a smoking room available. I explained that several people in the party had bad asthma and couldn't be around smoke. She said take or it leave it. Because it was a smoking room we all hung out in the same room until we ""had"" to go to the room. Then when it got pretty late we decided to go to our room. When we opened the door and went into the room, the first thing we noticed was it sounded like the tv was on in the room. When we went in there was a naked man on the bed passed out and snoring. I was so irate that I went back to the front desk and the lady was so rude. She kept telling me I must be mistaken and there was no way someone was in our room. She said that if there was a man in the room we put him in the room, or one of us lost out key and he found a way into the room. I told her that was impossible and went and gathered all the keys and came back to the front desk and showed all of them to her. After we pleaded with her to go to the room they finally after rolling their eyes told the security guy to go to the room. About 10 minutes later he came back to the front desk with a man who looked like he just woke up. This also is ridiculous because I didn't want him to see our faces and yet she brought him right next to us and said these women say you were in their room. They asked him some questions about why he was in the room and he didn't really seem to have any answer. By this time I was furious, 4 women going into a dark room, something bad could have happened and they just laughed it off like no big deal. The new manager for the shift asked us if we would like a new room, I thought how weird because we were told that there were no other rooms available. When I asked him he said, ""oh, no we have lots of rooms."" I was so upset needless to say. When I finally got someone from corporate to call me back 5 days later she assured me that she would get to the bottom of what happened and offered me new rooms at the hotel to make up for it. I reluctantly agreed and she said just call anytime and we will accomodate you. I just went this past weekend to get a room and told them I should have a room on file. The manager said, ""there is nothing on your file about a free room so I won't be able to do anything for you. You will have to call back on Sunday when the lady you spoke with is here."" Also, I stayed there one time when I booked a nice getaway for my husband and I back in March 3 weeks in advance. When I arrived ""early"" They said sorry we have are completely booked we had another larger group come in and said that to make up for it they were sending everyone to another Kansas City hotel. Reservations don't mean anything with them especially if you reserve with a credit card. Worthless hotel, don't waste your money until they get new management who cares about your stay. more

We stayed at the Argosy for our anniversary. We never go out of town and expected this to be wonderful. The first night was great. The second night was not so great. The only way that you can take liquer to your room is if they are opened at the bar and you can only take two at a time, unless you want to pay over $3.00 for one beer. Then we had a lovely neighbor who left the sterio blaring in his room while he was gone. It took customer service more than 4 hours to get it turned off. Then when we go to check out the next morning they asked us how our breakfast was, which we knew nothing about. Apparently they were going to pay for our breakfast but never bothered to tell us. Then the $50.00 security fee that we payed NEVER got returned to us. We will never stay or recommend this hotel to anyone but people we don't like. Pros: great beds and showers Cons: customer service leaves more to be desired more
